Quick & Casual Meal Vouchers
Just returned from WDW and our first experience with the Q&C meal vouchers. We purchased 12 (for the six of us - two each) at a price of $11.50/each.
Cutting to the chase - we most likely will not use these again and feel fortunate we didn't pay more than the $11.50 - which is almost always the case on E-bay. People simply don't know what they are/are not getting. Our first vouchers were used at the Sand Bar at the Comtemp. resort. Most of us ordered the chicken/bacon melt or a burger. It came with a bag of chips, large drink and a ice cream bar. We enjoyed the break from MK - it was a quick monorail ride over. But, at 2:00 we got a filthy table in the sun and seagulls (uggh) - no shady tables left due to swimmers - and generally ate as quickly as we could. Our total bill was $88 - so we saved $11 ($11.50 x 6 = $69). Our second voucher was spent at Tusker House in AK. We enjoyed a really good meal - rotissirie chicken, mashed potatoes and veggies, a large drink and a tasty dessert, or salmon and the same were what most got. Our total bill was about $90, so we saved $12. Why would I not get the Q&C's again? 1) Forget gratuity. I believe Peppers is the only restaurant where gratuity would be a factor on the Q&C. Most are walk-up, serve yourself. So, the only savings would be tax on that end. 2) While we made out ahead by $12 or so a meal - it was ONLY because we got large drinks and desert. We typically share drinks - or drink water and get no desert. Plus, most settings are for a fairly rushed meal - it's hard to wolf down that much food quickly. I know some have said they split coupons. That is tough to do with 6 people - plus, it's stressful to try to pull that off in the midst of the masses. 3) Without significant planning - you could easily lose money on the Q&C's. We mapped out our meals and did fine. But, on the fly - it would have been far tougher to pull off - and break even. All in all - we enjoyed the food and were glad we gave them a try - but we likely won't do it again. And.... I would never pay more than $11.50/voucher - anything over that will likely not break even. |

Pass the coffee please - lol!
Obviously I calculated savings with too little sleep! $90-69 = $21 and $88-$69 = $19 - better savings for sure. I think I was calculating the savings on what I almost paid for the vouchers on e-bay. Anyway, it obviously depends on how you look at the savings, and there were savings to be had based on the actual cost. I would just encourage people to understand fully what the Q&C vouchers are, and to plan out your meals diligently. Also - our 6 were two adults and four hungry teens. I would say any age below 10-12 would be looking at sharing the coupon. Good luck |

Thanks for the info. I purchased a few for our next trip at about 10.50 each.
I'll make sure to map out the meals for maximum savings. Thanks again!!

We purchased 10 for our trip, and found them to be a great deal. We used them at Tangarine Cafe in Morocco (twice), Beaches and Cream and Tusker House in AK. We ended up using 7 of them, and gave three to my parents who went after the cruise.
We paid $10.50 for each one, and we figure that each one of them saved us about $8, though Tusker House was less than that. Still, I think we saved about $50 for our 7 tickets. The nice thing is that with the entree, side, drink and dessert, my wife and I were able to share one meal without any problem. So, while we normally wouldn't have ordered a dessert, it ended up being a cheaper for us than if we had not purchased them. If you plan on using them at counter service restaurants, like the ones in MK, you might only save a dollar or two per meal, basically a free dessert is it.

Mickey,
Wish we could have made it to Beaches - that appears to be the best deal for the vouchers. Peppers also appears be a good deal - but I heard mixed reviews on Peppers. We were concerned with logistics from MK to Beaches or Peppers - since it was by bus only - so we opted for the Sand bar at Contemp. - and were a little disappointed - but again it was a good break for us. Epcot appears to be the best place for the vouchers in park. We too really enjoyed Tuskers - and the vouchers were a good deal there. With anything - the main thing is to know what you're getting into. It's amazing what some people will pay for these things on e-bay - and it's largely due to the way they're advertised on e-bay. Trying to coordinate who would split what with whom was too stressful for us (2 adults - 4 teens), so we just handed them individually. In hindsight, we should have planned that part a little better - and split the vouchers into a shared meal. That would make the vouchers a really good deal IMO. Thanks for the comments. |

At least you saved some money right? So even if it was not a ton, $40 is still another meal at Disney. :)
We are going to get the Q&C vouchers for our next trip, but we are going to be using them for places that we have mostly already planned out. We will be over by the Beach Club so we will certainly be eating at Beaches'n'Cream. But you are right about your observation with the EBay prices. Alot of people go to Disney and do not do much research before their trip so their perception of pricing is all off as is their expectiations. Gotta do what works best for your family.

Good point MM - money was saved.
As you noted, I think the main point was to inform others of what a Q&C voucher really is. They are valuable at a certain price no doubt, and it's hard to not save money if you pay $10-12/each for them. But, I actually bid $16/each for several on e-bay - being semi-duped into believing they could be used almost anywhere - and I was outbid for them - lol. thanks again. |

On ebay, there are so many auctions for these meal vouchers...in addition to the Premium Vacation Kingdom Lunch Vouchers and the Breakfast vouchers. You have to be REALLY careful on ebay...make sure the seller is listing the places that the vouchers can be used. Most sellers are good about that though....but just make sure. ;)
