Hi everybody. I just got accepted to the CP for Fall of 2005, as a merchandise cast member. I'm totally stoked, except for one thing: chances are, I'm not going to have anybody I know down there with me. That's not so bad, but I really don't want to be stuck with crappy roommates. I was wondering if there's anybody else on this forum who's going in the fall, and might want to meet up. Here's my stats:

Looking for: A dude who won't talk about drinking or girls every 2 minutes, who I'll want to hang out with, and who will tolerate me playing music occasionally.

Sorry no help here either re. the roomy but try and stay positive, things will fall into place. No need to panic, how could a fellow CP/CM possibly be annoying?

Don't stress about the roomie thing too much. From what I've heard, you'll be so busy you won't even know whose there. Plus, part of life is learning how to get along with all types of people, no matter how annoying they may be. Keep us up to date on your adventure.

I am currently on the program right now and did exactly what you're trying to do. Don't waste your time. Half the people that picked friends or online people to room with either got split up or decided not to. The girls I chose all went their seperate ways when we checked in and we had all met the night before! Anyway the roommates I have are really cool and we get along all right. But they do things that annoy me to death. Coming home at 3 in the morning screaming when I have to be up at 5 or leaving ALL their stuff in the living room and not cleaning out their dishes. But I finally gave up because I realized that I was spending more time and energy on fighting them than enjoying myself. Sure I still get woke up and the house is a pig sty but I'm only here for 6 months and I plan to have fun. So let fate have it's way. Well off to party. TTYL

They could have very well have changed things since my stint as a CP in 2000, but roomate selection was all based on who you are with in line. So, you'll definitely want to talk to those in line with you and hold back if you don't get a good vibe. You'd be amazed what you can find out about a person in just a few minutes. Also, sterotypically speaking :), the ones who arrive earlier would probably be easier to live with & a little tamer and vice-versa on the late arrivals.

HOWEVER, this is a once in a lifetime experience and the time goes by so fast. Part of the fun is meeting and getting to know new people that you might not have otherwise associated with. So, don't sweat it, you'll have a great time with your roomates.

Congrats Urbish! I never did the college program for the exact reason you're feeling apprehensive: roommates. So kudos to you! I let my stupid apprehension keep me from doing something that probably would have been a lot of fun.

It's going to be a little rough in the beginning, adjusting to a new "home" and having to establish a new "family" among the people you are rooming with. As PrincessJessica told you from her experiences, the chances of picking the perfect roomies are little to none! So good luck, I hope you get great roomies--you'll love 'em, you'll hate 'em...and after you leave I'm sure you'll miss 'em!

I interviewed last week for fall advantage....I'm still waiting to hear (obviously) but congratulations!! When I did my time in 2001 as a CP- my roomies all ended up quiting or just leaving the apartment, so I got a whole new set! Ended up we loved each other to bits, but of course we got annoyed by each other! The roomie situation is hard to work around, but you'll figure it out once you get there!

Congratulations!!! You are going to have the time of your life. My DD was in Fall 2003 program. She was very hesitant about the roomies too since she has never been one to have lots of girlfriends. She had chosen the 6 person group for economic reasons so that meant even more females to deal with. It all worked out wonderfully and the girl she shared a room with is still one of her best friends. As with any new situation, especially involving close living quarters, there is adjustment (just wait til you get married...talk about adjustment!!). Anyway, things will work out and like PrincessJessica said, everyone will likely have different hours so there isn't really a lot of time spent together. After having my daughter there and seeing how it all went, I wish I could have done it. In fact, I would do it now if they let old ladies in the program!!!!!
