Theatre CP??
Me and my room-mate, Kari, want to go work for Disney next year. And she's been into theatre since middle school. She doesn't do acting, she's the "lights, sounds, props, I'll fix it" kinda person, AKA techie. She's told me that it's not that easy to get into the Union that techies work under. But I was wondering if there was some kind of CP program that could get her foot in the door.
How flexible is Disney with other jobs?? She's got a full time job at the Home Depot that she likes a lot, plus we'll need something to pay the expenses of rent. We'll have to live off property since with have our own little "zoo". |

I was once a Theatre Design major with a dream of working for disney--but in reality they pay about 7 dollars an hour, even for full time, and it is very hard to live off of that in central flordia..

Re: Theatre CP??
Try living off of 7 bucks an hour in south florida... everything is more expensive down here. Even gas is about 10-15 cents higher than it is up there. When we were there, the front page of the sentinal talked about the housing boom that market price is up to $200,000. Down here it's already in the 400's and higher.
I don't know if she's the best of the best, but her high school teacher asked her to come help her out after she went off to college. Her original idea for after college would be a high school drama teacher. She went to the University of Miami for about 3 years before she dropped out because it was too expensive out of pocket. She's gonna get her AA in theatre hopfully after this semester from community college, and then we'll head to UCF so she can get a BA in theatre, and she's hoping to double in History like she originally was going to. We're both hoping to get a job at Disney, part-time. We definatly need full-time jobs on the outside for necessities. But of course she's the perfect student/worker/and everything else. So she can do whatever she wants. Even getting a third part-time job when she isn't even trying, after having a full-time and a part-time, and wanting to go back to school in the fall. |
