Not only am I an Alumni, I'm a Campus Rep
The College Program was probably one of the greatest times in my life, even though pay wasn't always good. The discounts were good when you could afford them. Since being back at school (I've been here for a year and half now), I've been looking for a way to feed my disney depression (first you're glad you left, then eventually, you miss it more than life itself). Now I am a campus representative. Basically, I'm a Cast Member who doesn't work on property. I get my discounts all back (Including my personal fav, FREE PARK ADMISSION!) and I can't wait to go back down there for a few days. I don't get paid to do this, but I get to encourage others to do the program for themselves and see what it's really all about. If anyone EVER wants to know anything about the program, don't be afraid to leave me a message here, cause I'm sure I can answer them all!

Nah, she doesn't have to check it out way ahead of time. The semester before she decides to go, she needs to check out the website: www.wdwcollegeprogram.com. From there she can look up her school and find out the presentation date. She has to go to the presentation, otherwise she can't interview. They interview for Spring (5 month) and Spring Advantage (7 month) in Fall, and then the reverse in spring. I would recommend doing the program in the Spring. I did it during the fall, and it's really hard to be away during Thanksgiving and Christmas (especially since you're working!) Hope this helps....

You do have to complete at least your first semester of college before setting out on the CP.
I was going to go to the info. session at my college until the woman at the info. table said (exact quote) "Jobs are available at all four theme parks: Epcot, MGM, Animal Kingdom and Disney World." I laughed at her and walked away- after taking one of the pieces of candy that they had set out as bribes! ;)

What I have to say about the Disney World thing is, well, if you ask any cast member who has worked in the Magic Kingdom, most "guests" call it Disney World. When I worked there, I remember talking to a few guests who told me, "well, today we're doing Disney World and tomorrow we're going to Epcot." Like Epcot wasn't part of Disney World or something.
But you're right you do have to finish one semester because you need at least a 2.0 GPA, which isn't that hard. And I think who ever you talked to, or heard, say that comment was probably goofing around...cause I know that we make our own little jokes when we're trying to sell people on the program. Such as we tell them to get used to the phrase, "My Friday." But Jobs are available in all the Parks, Resorts, and all through out property. :-D |

PVHnat, What is the youngest age DD will be 18 when finished first semester or is it simply completing your first semester and do they recruit in New Orleans, LA.
Can you request a location or resort. We are DVC members and LOVE OKW. DD can't wait until it's her turn.

Here's what I know. You have to be at least through your first semester of your freshman year. So you can't start looking at the program until Spring of that year. (Which recruits for fall.) You can't ask for a location, they just put you were you are needed, so sometimes things are great and sometimes they are not. I'm not sure what areas of LA they recruit in, though I made a lot of friends from LSU, so I know they at least recruit in the state. If you want more information, go to http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com

My question is this....
PVHnat
Do they have anything available for those of us who may be looking for a career change. I am 34, married, working as a Network Administrator, have a 4 year degree in Hospitality, and want to work at WDW. Any thoughts? Thanks :) Bryant |
