I just finished all my 6 days of training classes...you can get "no re-hire" status if you get terminated - aka fired - meaning you will not be able to work for:
ABC, ESPN, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, The Disney Store, Disney Cruse Line etc...

When your program is over it's called "compleated" not termination.

OK now if you are fired, you are not eligible for re-hire, but thats the same with almost any company.
I mean right now my options are very open, I've finished my cp program in fall 02, I am still a campus rep at my school. My old position is open for me anytime I want to go back or I can apply for another internship. Plus my recruiter is very impressed with my last wdw cp presentation that she has asked me to host a career fair for wdw career start this week. So I don't know what that CM told you, but I think he was mis-informed. With wdw cp there are soo many opportunities to progress, just remember to network!

Not only will they rehire you, CP alumns get a sort of preferential treatment after the complete. heres my story:

I was a CP'er in '97, and in 1998 on spring break i went down to renew my status. I called one of my old managers at MK and asked whether it would be possible to pick up hours. they were full and had no extra hours available, but a friend of hers was a Mgr at AK. she got me assigned to Tusker house for the week, and i ended up working at Tamu Tamu, Tusker house, and Mr Kamal's Burger wagon (i think its no longer there... i remmeber it fondly since it is where i got to serve a burger to Marissa Tomei... so Hot, btw)

In talking to that manager, i mentioned that i was VERY interested in returning someday to be a MGR in the F&B department. she asked me for a resume, and told me she would help me if she could. she was impressed that i could step in untrained at a new location and work so well with new people and unfamiliar food items. anyway, about a month later i got a call from Casting indicationg that my resume had made it up the chain a bit, and i was being considered. Disney flew me down and put me up at the Contemporary for 2 days so that i could be interviewed in person! I didnt get the job unfortunatly, i really feel that not having graduated from College after i got back from the CP hurt me ( i dropped out because i couldnt get financial aid) and i was so nervous that i left my applications in my room at the CR and had to leave Casting and run back there to get them (that probably didnt help). anyway, im kinda glad i didnt get in, because i wouldnt have met my dear wife and had our lovely daughter, Kara, or my son Will who is due to be born NEXT THURSDAY!!! weve already planned his first WDW trip in December, and he isnt even born yet!

You can in fact work for Disney after you complete the CP, as long as you dont get fired or quit early, and you maintained a good working record while there.

Thankyou to everyone who responded to this thread. When the campus rep told me this I felt like it couldn't be true, and also crushed at the thought of not being able to turn my love for Disney into a career. I can't wait to start my college program in August. I hope to meet a lot of DCers while I am there. This is a great forum!!!

My son did an internship with Disney this last fall. Yes, they do terminate you, so to speak. He is however going back to Disney in June for an advanced internship in June. The first internship, he worked at the All Stars resort front desk and bell hop. This time he is doing customer relations at the Magic Kingdom. He keeps in touch with all management that he has met. They in turn are helping him prepare for a career with Disney. For example, he is going to Disney a couple weeks before his second internsip starts and will be working with the manager of the All Star resort gaining more training and preparing for a 3rd internship in management which will be in
the spring. Just stay in constant contact and work hard. Prove yourself, and I don't think you will have any problems

Before you return back to school, look into being a campus rep for Disney. Any experience you can get will help

Thanks Kathy! That is good advice. It is so inspiring to hear about people who have done the CP, and are having careers with Disney. I can't wait to get started on my Disney career which is my dream!!! That is great about your son!!!

Update!! The CM who gave me this info emailed me today, and said he was wrong about what he told me. He misunderstood something somewhere. I still think he needs to get his facts straight before representing Disney.

Hi!!!

I just arrived from Disney, I was an ICP and use to work at EPCOT (Future World). So, a few days a go Disney invited me to work there again between June and November. As you can see, and, like everybody said, the information that you've heard is quite wrong.

Unfortunately I'm can't go back because of my college, but, the oportunity still there and since I did my very best as a Cast Member, they want me back.

Don't worry, the original Walter Elias Disney philosophy still there, and it's based on good sense and in the work of the cast members.

After my program ended I was hired on as Seasonal. When your program is over, YOU MUST INFORM YOUR SCHEDULING MANAGERS THAT YOU WISH TO STAY WITH THE COMPANY. Otherwise failure to do so and you could very easily lose your stats.
