I am so excited for you Valerie, and you too Jenabug. I was wondering where you were cast. I'm glad you got a chance to fill us in even though the last few days have probably been a bit crazy for you.

Old Key West is beautiful and I'm sure you'll enjoy it there. And like you said, it's near Chatham and DTD too.

I'm sure you'll adjust quickly. It's nice that you have a good roomie. Just remember you are following your dreams! Now you make the magic! Hope Traditions goes well for you tomorrow. Good Luck!

Glad you got the apartment complex you wanted and a room mate close to your age--that should help a bit... and definitely better to have one room mate vs. 3, in my experiences!

OKW is beautiful... but it will make it harder for those of us not staying there to say hi to you. :( We stayed there a few years ago--it is a nice resort.

Traditions talks about the Disney legacy, how the company came about, our role as a cast member, etc. I was in the first group to go to Traditions this morning and I had alot of fun. My other roomates said that they fell asleep during the session. I think that I'm the only die hard Disney fan in my apartment. I met a neighbor (sort of...she is working at Fantasyland and I'm in Tomorrowland). I was gonna meet up with her later to go to MGM, but I got dizzy and developed an headache so I told her and her roomies to go without me. But we are planning on going to a park when we have some time off. All in all, it was a pretty good day (with the exception of my headache)

Sounds awesome! I cant imagine not being interested in all that even if your arent a diehard Disney fan. Even from a business aspect its fascinating. Jena- how many roomates do you have, and are you satisfied with your apartment? I'm beginning the drive tomorrow night and cant wait! I hope you feel better and enjoy your first day of training!!

Today was one the best days I have ever had. It started this afternoon at Traditions class. The first part of the session was filling out paperwork etc. Then we got into the Past history of the Disney Company. There was video about the life of Walt Disney and the history of the company. It was really interesting stuff. I would have found it interesting even if I wasn’t going to be a cast member. There were five people at each table, and each table was a team. Each table had to pick a leader for their table, and everyone at my table automatically pointed to me!!!! I was given a Mickey figurine as prize!!! Then we had to name as many Disney characters as we could in 90 seconds. The table that named the most won. We named 39 and we won!!!! Everyone at the table was given a Disney character as a prize. I got a Pluto. We then received our Disney name tags and Cast Member i.d. The i.d is what gets you in the parks for free. To me I felt like I was receiving a golden ticket.
Then there was the future of the company talking about policies, integrity, etc. There were some videos about sexual harassment that were really funny. After that stuff they went into where the company is heading in the future. It was very inspiring. I am so happy to be a part of this.

After Traditions I wanted to go to Magic Kingdom. I didn’t have anybody to go with, but on the bus I met three other interns who were going and they invited me to go with them. Their names were Jennifer (who goes to UT Chattanooga), Sarah (Michigan) and Mitch (Texas). They were all 19, but they didn’t mind a 27 year old going to MK with them. They thought is cool I was doing this, and that I am married, and that my husband is so supportive of me being here. We had so much fun!!! We rode: It’s a Small World, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, The new Pirates of Caribbean with Captain Jack Sparrow, and Space Mountain. After that they headed for the bus because they had to be at work early, but I stayed for Wishes which was beautiful. At the bus stop to come home I met three girls from Ireland and Wales who were very funny. Everyone is really friendly here.

It was just one the best days I have ever had. Everything felt so magical. I am so happy to be here.

Thank you, that's what I thought. I cannot believe that anyone wants to work at Disney and not be interested in that sort of thing.
When I grow up, I want to work there and hear all about it.

When I did Traditions, I completely loved it! I could not understand why everyone in the room was not bursting with excitement.
