A note for future CPs
Hey guys and girls, I just learned that for those who might become CPs in the near future, you will not be able to be in Entertainment. Due to numerous reasons that I won't get into, Entertainment will not be an option for future CPs. This in a way is very good and bad for people in my field in that it'll give me many more shifts, but days off might become really hard. This may not stay in effect, but for now as best I understand, a CP will not be given the chance to be part of Entertainment. Just wanted to give ya'll a heads up.

Darn and just as I was about to leave my SAHM life and join the "circus"
KILL JOY! he he he- I wish I was young enough to do something like this- I have a friend that was a "chip and chef Mickey" helper back in the early 90's. I was so envious of her!

That combination could never happen in DL! Oh boy would I have been happy if it could have. But they're so darn strict over here anymore, the Chip/Mickey combo just doesn't happen. That's kind of a stinker for flexibility for ya Rowdy...I'm sure CPers can be a big help in that regard. (I know it was sure that way over here with CTs, who made up a very large portion of the entertainment department!) But I'm sure they've made this decision for good reasons. Thanks for the heads-up!

That's interesting. What exactly falls under "entertainment?"

Re: A note for future CPs
I'm looking into the CP, but with for a good number of reasons, I wasn't even looking at 'entertainment'. Thanks for the heads up, though.

Re: A note for future CPs
Don't they attempt to place you within your major? Or is that just if you go for a semester?

Re: A note for future CPs
OffKitlerFan-I don't think you really get much of a choice of where you end up when you do the college program. I know you can choose from different general areas like merchandise, food/beverage, etc. but your job may or may not relate to your major. I think once you complete the program you can apply for an internship in a position that does relate more closely to your major.

Also, when you get accepted they tell you your job so you know before you accept. You even have to initial a line saying something like "I understand that this is my position and I can't change it." I'm not sure about all this entertainment stuff. When I filled out my app. for Fall 2006 there were three different job choices which envolved entertainment. I can't imagine they are cutting them all?! That will likely mean alot less CPers. |

Re: A note for future CPs
I think it's probably for the best to eliminate entertainment from the college program. I think it will help to maintain character integrity and from what I understand, give the regular entertainment people a lot more shifts (I heard they were kind of sparse before since CPs have to be guaranteed 30+ hours per week).

I didn't know CPs had to be guaranteed 30 hours a week! That would REALLY hurt regular entertainment people, especially in characters. It was hard enough for regular entertainment people over here to maintain those hours, what with all the CTs that only work seasonally. As soon as they come in - BAM, big hour cuts.I had no idea. That could play a big role in why they've decided to cut Entertainment from CP. ![]()
