College Program Questions.
Hi! I'm looking into applying for the college program this year (not totally sure if I'll try as a freshman, but I'm looking into it.) My question goes into this
how do 'classes' work there? I don't quite get it? Is it Gen ed stuff? I'm attempting to graduate in three years, so I'm confused on the process and need to understand how this works. If I'm not mistaken, there is just a summer option, correct? I really don't know what else I'm trying to ask, but I know I'll think of it.

) BUT, I think it would be quite difficult for you to do the program and graduate in three years. I could explain things more thoroughly if you would be willing to tell me your major and the way your school is structured (semesters, trimesters, etc??) Let me know these things if you want! |

Re: College Program Questions.
Sure...we're just semesters here. I'm a molecular and cellular biology major, but am holding out on Gen-ed requirements currently. I do have some prior credit going into college (14 hours or so), so my issue is not truly with what classes, just making sure they fill some requirement (whether it be gen-ed or toward my major!)
Uhh I don't think I'm making coherent sense tonight!

Re: College Program Questions.
hehehe, you are making sense! I am a pre-med major so you are in a similar situation to me. Whether or not you get credit depends on your own university and whether or not you are willing to pay. My university for example is catholic, so most of our gen-eds surround religion. My suggestion to you would be to look at the course descriptions at Disney and then look at the course descriptions at your univeristy. Try and find some that are close and then talk to your dean. If you cant get credits this way, you can take online classes from your university. Another option, is there are several schools that will give you credit for the classes (these are listed on the website,) BUT they will require you to pay for the credits from them-- however once you have purchased these credits they will likely transfer back to your school since they are now attached to another university. However, reguardless of how you work your classes, I think it would be very difficult to earn more than six credits while you are here. I also would caution you against taking like chemistry or something online b/c you will not have the time to devote to it that you would in a typical college setting. OK, so I KNOW i just confused the heck out of you-- lol.. its very late! Let me know what parts of this actually make senes and i'll try to fix the parts that dont!

Re: College Program Questions.
No, you made perfect sense! I'm doing pre-med too, so that's the goal...and I want to graduate in three years so I can start med school a year early, and hopefully be on my own and beginning research when I turn 25.
So what are the length options for the program? Is there simply a summer session, or does it have to continue into the fall?

Re: College Program Questions.
my granddaughter graduates HS this year. so my question is how soon should she start checking into becoming a part of the CP? She is going to do 2 years at a local college. Even though she is in HS, she is currently taking 2 college courses now.

Re: College Program Questions.
I am not 100% certain, but I believe you have to have completed one semester of college. So, probably next year at this time would be her time to apply. Can anyone back me up on this?

Re: College Program Questions.
the international college program that UK people can do at WDW doesnt involve taking any classes, you basically work in WDW over ur summer break....the only condition is that u HAVE to be a student, u must be able to provide proof that u are returning to a college or university. isnt there a similar program that americans can participate in?

Re: College Program Questions.
I think you do have to have completed at least one semester of college when you apply.

Re: College Program Questions.
The CP website is a great resource I've used to find answers to some of my questions. You can find program seasons (yes I think there is just a summer one), course descriptions, and learn more about the program. It's wdwcollegeprogram.com.
I'm glad that you guys are still having a good time down there, despite the "dorky" costumes. Dorky? It's Disney. Come on, think of that free theme park admission.![]()

Re: College Program Questions.
Okay, so like Tinkerbell said I'm taking College Govt. and College Comp. and Rhet. (English 1301 and 1302). Last year I took College Algebra and College U.S. History. All were dual-credit since I'm in high school.
Alg - 3hr Hist - 6 hr Eng - 6 hr Govt - 3 hr So I'll have 18 hrs. by the time I graduate. By collegiate standards how many hours qualify as a semester, or does it even work that way?

Re: College Program Questions.
Well it looks like the questions are getting answered really well here so you don't need me. I will, however, say that being a CP was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. It's definitely not for everyone, but for those it is, simply the best.

Re: College Program Questions.
I'm 28 and in graduate school 1/2 way through my masters, does that count? haha. Oh yeah, I'm married too and I want a good job in Disney, like I have to make at least 40k. Will the college program do this for me?
(I wish I wasn't even only HALF serious )
