need check in day advice

On the first day of the cp, check in day, when you get your living assignment and fingerprinting, etc. --- does anyone remember how long this process takes?

We will be there with our DD... should she go to check in without us (we go to a park!) or should we go with her to the check in? Not that she will need us but afterwards we could help her carry her stuff into her apartment (which she probably could do herself).

Then there is the mandatory 2 hour housing meeting....

Any advice??? Did any of you bring your folks and what did they do?

Thanks!

Re: need check in day advice

I helped my sister drive her stuff up and check in and all that good jazz when she did the CP. The check in process took her about 2 1/2 and then she had a lot of meeting to go to.

For some reason I don't think you're able to join in that process, but I could be wrong. I remember her telling me how hectic it all is.

Don't worry because you definitely will NOT be the only parents there. There will be many parents. Check in really isn't that difficult I promise. Grant it, it's been 3 years since I did my CP, but it's all good. And actually I live directly across from Vista Way. So I'm right there for ya! Just make sure you have all the neccessary items, IDs, paperwork, etc. that are in the booklet they sent. If she has her own vehicle, MAKE SURE you have the registration, insurance info, and any other vehicle information or they will not issue her a sticker and she'll have to park outside of the complex until she does have the paperwork.

Re: need check in day advice

I took about two hours or so. And it would be wonderful if you stuck around to help her carry stuff to her apartment, especially if she is on the second or third floor. They also have a special waiting spot for parents . . . so bring a book or magazine! And the housing meeting is a great chance for you to grab something to eat, or if you are SUPER nice parents, get a head start on the shopping!

It was great that my mom was able to stink around and help me out with moving in and everything.
