Re: my daughter got in
I did the college program in Fall of 06 also. It was one of the best things I've done, and was a life changing experience for me. Now I'm a campus rep for the college program. If you have questions I'd be glad to answer them. Your daughter will have the time of her life. It is a lot of hard work, but the rewards are great. Tell her to take advantage of every opportuntity to learn and experience. The program is what you make of it, and there are so many opportunites.

Re: my daughter got in
A good friend of ours did the program last year. She loved it. She's now relocated to Orlando and is working at Planet Hollywood.
Tell your DD congratulations!

Re: my daughter got in
Congrats to your daughter! I did the program 7 years ago (wow, I can't believe it's been so long) and it was one of the best things I've ever done. The program has changed a lot since my CP, but I am sure your daughter will have the time of her life. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I could!

Re: my daughter got in
I left college too and then went back, so like your daughter I was older too. I'm also married, and my husband stayed behind in TN while I did the program. He was super supportive of me doing that because working for Disney was always my dream.
I think I may have apreciated the experience more than some because for me this was something I really wanted, and an exciting chance for me to change careers. I took classes through Disney University and attended as many learning opportunites as I could. They were great. I also used that time to network with leaders and managers. The pay is not high, but for me I looked at this as opportunites not a money making venture. Hopefully that will come later! Any money you send her will be apreciated. They do take the rent out of your paycheck so whatever you clear is your income. You don't have to worry about paying bills. Walmart giftcards would be helpful too. She will fine without a car. They provide transportation anywhere you need to go. That is included in the rent. I took my car, but I found myself using the bus a lot. Saved me money on gas. Plus I met people on the bus. Does she know what line of business she will be working in yet?

Re: my daughter got in
faerie dust,
I flew down on my own with just my suitcases and what I could fit in them and my parents shipped me some other stuff later during the week of my arrival. It was really helpful to do it that way. Plus, like Valerie said there is an enormous super Wal-Mart nearby where I bought other things that I needed. The apartment comes with all the dishes and basic cooking supplies you need and I'm not sure if they still provide you with bedding but they did on my program (my parents sent me some stuff anyway, I liked having my own sheets and blankets). Though you are not making much money at all, I was definitely able to get by on just my paycheck. With free park admission and merchandise and food discounts, I spent most of my free time and extra money on property anyway. I also did not have car and though it would have been nice sometimes to have one, I was definitely able to survive without it.
