Campus reps

Are there any other campus representatives on this board??

If so, could you please share any tips yall have on getting people to your presentations??
This is my first semester at AUM and my second semester of being a rep, lets just say I wasn't too happy with my turnout.

If anyone has any ideas let me know!!!

Hey Tigger,

I am not a campus rep anymore but I was for a year when I got back from my CP in 2000-2001. I wish I had some great innovative tips for getting people to presentations but I always had a struggle too. My school didn't give any credit for the program so it was really hard to get people excited about basically falling a semester behind!

I mostly just stuffed mailboxes with some of the materials I was sent by Disney, concentrating mostly on the freshmen and sophomore classes since I figured they might be more likely to take the semester off. And I had a little pre-official presentation information session where I served refreshments and showed a video (it was the video Disney sold of the milennium celebration stuff since it was still 2000) and I answered questions. Nothing too creative but that was some of what I did.

Good luck! I know how fun it is to spread that Disney Magic!

Karen :)

Thank you

Thanks Dana, I really tried hard to find a nice avatar to put for tigger. The ones on here just didn't do him Justice!!!!

Karen, since it seems most schools don't give credit it's a lot harder to convince anyone to go. Its really getting sad for me. Not only for the struggling attendance but for the fact that it's always whats in it for me. When I saw I had the chance to work for Disney, that was all I needed! There was no, "well else can Disney offer me".

I appreciate the ideas and I'm glad it seems I'm not the only one with problems. Its just really buggin me how everything is soo corporate now. Disney was never a business to me, it is family and magic. Thats why I work there, not for benefits or anything, just because it means something to me!

Tigger,

I agree with you completely! That is probably why we both enjoyed our Disney CP's so much. I know a fair amount of people who were miserable when they were there, mostly because they had the wrong attitude from the start.

I think it is really hard to convey to people the special feeling you get helping to spread that Disney Pixie Dust. If you could just bottle that and give it out at the presentation, you would have no trouble convincing anyone to go!!

Good luck with your campus rep efforts! Keep us updated on how things go - when is your presentation??

Karen

Karen,
Actually my presentation was the beginning of march. We just had a Q & A session for the kids who weren't sure if they wanted to go or not.
My recruiter actually wants me to host another Q&A session since turnout was not that great for the first one.
I get worried though cause it feels my fellow castmembers are too busy or not that enthusiastic about the program.
Did you ever run into problems of fellow reps just hanging posters and showing up at the presentation or were you the lone rep??

Fred

My daughter is a junior in high school so it is a way off but she most definitely wants to do the college program. Do you have any good tips on how she can improve her chances of getting picked? Thanks.

Karen,
when we look for candidates there are some factors.
Here's what I look for
1) Great smile, you've got to have one for all the guests to see
2)Disney memory, hold disney in your heart and have a magical memory
3)Enthusiasm, you've got to have energy and spunk!
4)Desire, have a dream and goals, not just with Disney but life.

Those are my suggestions, on what I look for. All recruiters typically look for that to. I know your daughter is a ways off but it's a start.
As for other things, she needs to be a student in good academic standings and have been to a university for one or more semesters. Typically freshmen we prefer have one semeser completed.
I hope that helps out, anything else, just let me know! :D

I have been going to WDW since Nov. 1971. I got accepted to the college program three years ago, but was unable to go because of my daughter. She was seven at the time, but now she is ten and cannot wait for her turn at the college program. We are DVC members and she takes the trip every year. She sold her grandparents the DVC membership after a trip to WDW and she wrote an essay on the imagination of Walt Disney that got her admission into the private school she now attends. She is a true Disney fanatic, and her favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion. She wants to be a Vet and work at Animal Kingdom. She meets all of your criteria. She definitely holds Disney in her heart and in her head, but she will debate who the true Disney fan is... and give to her Mom every time.
