Yo downsouthtigger, here's one. When Kim (my recruiter) came back to school for a meeting w/ all us soon-to-be CPs, she mentioned a piece of paperwork we should bring with us that I couldn't find anywhere on the site. It was something to the extent of being about a "background check form," and she told us where it should be, but my friend and I went over the site w/ a fine tooth comb and haven't any success. It's not listed as being any type of paperwork that has to be filled out at the site. Do you have any idea, or did we get the words backward or something?

RowdyRaider,
as far as a background check, those are done before you even get the job and such, so I don't know what that was about.
Usually the peiece of paper they ask you to bring is your acceptance letter. I'm going to check back on the site and see if there is another form, but if you log into wdwcollegeprogram.com all the forms should be there. Also any paperwork is given in your acceptance packet, I don't remember ever having to have a background check type paper.

Luis,
I don't know about internationals unfortunately. She mentioned that you cannot come back and work with Disney another term, I don't understand why that is. You will definately have to contact the disney recruiter if they come back to your school on that one.
As for working the cruise line, hmm thats another story, and a whole other experience.... I don't want to tell you that you can't come back cause I know thats not true, and I know you're always more than welcome to come back to wdw if you have a good record!

I know that didnt help too much, but I wasn't ready for those kinda questions yet, you have to start out slow you know?? lol :laugh

ok ok Melli, I got off my butt and did some research.

Click this link!

This has some information on it for you, since Peru isnt a country which needs cultural representatives only the international program is available.
Theres a listing of contact info for you on the site as well!
So all I can say is give it a shot and see what happens, good luck!

Re: Answers For WDW College Program!!!!

I was recently accepted into the WDWCP as a vacation planner for Fall 2004. However, I am having trouble receiving college credit from my school. I noticed that other school offer credit online that are geared specifically for Disney, but they are expensive and I don't know if it's worth it. I really want to get this experience, but need some guidance on how to get college credit. If there is someone who has experienced this and may have some information, please respond as soon as possilbe. Help needed immediately. thanks!!!

Re: Answers For WDW College Program!!!!

Nana,
Its really hard to get college credit for this experience. You could sign up for one of the courses that is accepted for credit at another school and transfer that in, but like you said thats pretty expensive. The problem schools have is that they hear disneyworld so they think you're just goofing off for a semester. Then again most work study, or internships offer no credit as is.
My previous school lied to me as well, so even if the school says credit it's not always true. I previously took a class that was going to count for 3 credit hours of management. I had paperwork stating what to do and how to go about it. When I got home the dean of the school of management had never heard of this program and basically told me flat out he didnt think I would get credit. Even though the school of business had forms which clearly said what classes counted for what.
I have to be honest though, do not worry about college credit. They have classes at disney for the cp, but they are only going to be worth 3 hours semester credit. All they will take care of is some minor business classes. Plus you can only take up to 2 classes. If I knew then what I know now I would not have taken a class.
If you're worried about graduating school quicker, do not go into the program. If you want to have fun, gain an interesting perspective on life, and have disney on your resume, do it. It upsets me that you won't get credit for such a wonderful experience. Then again you're getting so much more than just a crappy letter grade at the end, this is a life experience and you will get so much more out of it. PLus look at it this way, you won't have to pay for tuition for a semester and I know for many tuition is a big deal. Plus if you're not sure what you want to be in life, go to Disney for a sem instead of wasting that semester and money on classes you may not need in the future. I've been going to school since fall 1997, I have 1 year left (finally) so I can tell you a lot about wasted semesters, money, and bad choices.

Re: Answers For WDW College Program!!!!

Downsouthtigger, thank you so much for your advice. Like you, I have no idea what I want to do with my life and I really want to experience the WDWCP. Your advice has eased a lot of my worries. I will still try to get college credit, but if all else fails, I know that my semester there is probably going to be 10 times better then any of my past semester in college, and I'll get paid for it. Thanks for looking out. I have one more question. Although they give you an idea of what a vacation planner is when you are accepted, I still have just that, an idea. Can you possibly give me a little more insight as to what I will be doing? Will I be working in the ticket booths mainly or collecting tickets? Is it a good position? Once again thanks!!

Fall 2004.....Here I come!!!!

Re: Answers For WDW College Program!!!!

Nana,
there isn't really a good or bad role at wdw. Ok ok I lie, Matt and I have some great jobs, him in costume and me attractions. So we have tons of guest interaction, but both jobs have good and bad points.
You my dear will have to basically sit in a ticket booth. Its not so bad, you usually have another person with you. You're in the shade and a/c so thats great.
On the flip side you will be first contact with a lot of less knowledgeable people. Also you're stuck in your booth too.
Ticket collecting is greeter/maingate, so thats a whole other role. Thats all I really know of the role, but I hope that helps you out!

Re: Answers For WDW College Program!!!!

Thanks once again Downsouthtigger. That does give me an idea of what i'll be doing. I have one more question, for now atleast. Is there any way to guarantee a one or two bedroom apartment. I would really prefer that than a three or four bedroom.
