FAQ Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a Deluxe resort.

Atmosphere: Wilderness Lodge uses Old Faithful Lodge as its inspiration. As you walk through the magnificent front doors you are immediately transported to the great Northwest. Located on Bay Lake, Wilderness Lodge is a Magic Kingdom resort.

Rooms: With only 728 rooms, this is one of Disney’s smallest resorts. Rooms are approximately 340 square feet. Most rooms consist of two queen beds but some rooms have a queen bed and bunk beds. A limited number of king rooms are also available, most of these rooms are also handicapped equipped.

There are three types of room view available; standard, woods, and courtyard view. A standard view generally over looks the parking lot or possibly the roof of the lodge. The woods view faces the woods towards the Magic Kingdom on one side or the Wilderness Lodge Villas on the other side. The courtyard view looks out over the main pool, villa pool, or Bay Lake.

Junior suites and concierge service are also available.

Room amenities include iron and ironing board, hair dryers, small in-room safe, and portable crib.

Restaurants: Wilderness Lodge has two full service restaurants, Artist Point and Whispering Canyon Café, two snack bars, and a lounge.

Artist Point features cuisine from the Northwestern United States. Serving only dinner, Artist Point is definitely known for their signature dish Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon and berry cobbler.

Whispering Canyon Café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Along with a full menu, Whispering Canyon Café also features a giant skillet filled with all the home cookin’ you can eat. This restaurant is an experience for the whole family; make sure you ask for some Ketchup!!

Roaring Forks Snacks is a self service snack shop located on the main floor near the back of the lobby. Refillable mugs are available here for both purchase and refill. Roaring Forks is open daily until approximately midnight.

Territory Lounge, located near Artist Point, has a full service bar and serves appetizers and light snacks.

Trout Pass is a pool side snack bar.

Room service is also available.

Pool: Wilderness Lodge has one pool, with a waterslide and lifeguards on duty, along with two spas. The lifeguards offer activities for the kids, usually every afternoon.

Recreation: Teton Boat and Bike Rentals is open daily until 5 pm. Bikes and boats are available to rent. There is a 3/4 mile path for biking, walking, or jogging from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness.

Wilderness Lodge also offers an arcade off the main lobby near the Villas.

Transportation: Bus service is provided to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s MGM Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon. Some buses are shared with others resorts. Buses run approximately every 15-20 minutes. To get to the bus stop exit the lobby near the Guest Service desk and pass the arcade and Villas.

The Magic Kingdom can also be reached by launch. The launch runs approximately every 15-20 minutes. The boat dock can be found by exiting the rear of the lobby near Roaring Forks Snacks. Exiting the pool area on the left you will find a wooded walk way that leads to the boat dock.

Wilderness Lodge also has launch service to Disney's Contemporary Resort. The launch makes three stops; Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Fort Wilderness, and Disney's Contemporary Resort. Check with Guest Services for hours.

Shopping: Wilderness Lodge Mercantile offers a variety of Disney and Wilderness Lodge merchandise along with snacks and beverages.

Child care: Disney's Wilderness Lodge offers child care at the Cub's Den for children ages 4-12. Reservations are recommended and can be placed at Guest Services or by calling either 824-1083 or 1-407-WDW-DINE.

Location: 901 Timberline Dr. Lake Buena Vista, FLA 32830.
Phone: 407-824-3200
Fax: 407-824-3232.

Tips:

Make sure to ask about being a Flag Family when you check in. Each morning a selected family is allowed to assist in raising the lodge flags. This is a very popular activity and fills up fast.

Don’t miss the 120 foot Geyser that spouts every hour on the hour from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. The geyser is located in the back of the lodge past the pool area.

The Electric Water Pageant passes by the Wilderness Lodge each evening at approximately 9:35 pm. Be sure to check with Guest Services for exact times as times may vary.

Ask at the front desk for the Wilderness Lodge Hidden Mickey list.

Wonders of the Lodge tour is offered select days of the week, inquire at Guest Services as to exact days and times.

Make time to sit in front of the magnificent fireplace in the lobby. You will be amazed at how quiet and relaxing it is, assuming that you don’t doze off like so many other guests. This lobby is one of the most relaxing places in all of Walt Disney World.

I will continue this as time allows.
