Poly room question

Good Afternoon DisneyCentral!

We're going to the poly next week. I have a few questions for the experts here at DC. Is it worth our while to fax in room requests this week? We will be celebrating our son's first birthday during our vacation -- we would love to get a great room -- any suggestions.

Also -- what kind of "cribs" do they have at the Poly? Do they use pack-n-plays? Thanks for the help.

We will be staying WDW May 13th - May 17th -- will anyone else be there?
Thanks!

Re: Poly room question

I am pretty sure they will bring you a pack-n-play upon request at no charge!! As for room requests, I would like to hear the answer to that as well!! We are staying at the POLY in September!!

Have a great trip!! 1 WEEK!! I have ohhhh sooo much longer to wait!!

Re: Poly room question

When we were there I saw them bring a pack- n-play to a room so I'm assuming that's what they use. I would definately fax a room request! Also, if you haven't call and have them add a note on your reservation that it is your son's b-day and they will have that info available on the comp. for guest services when you check in. In Nov. we stayed at the WL and they sent balloons and an autographed photo of Cinderella with a card to our room while we were out. We didn't get anything special in terms of a room upgrade or anything but it never hurts to ask! Have fun at the Poly! It is my fav. resort!!

Re: Poly room question

Yes, I would most definitely fax in a room request if I were you! It can never hurt! I don't know if you are paying more for a lagoon view room, but if you are just getting a standard garden view room, I have some advice. (We stayed in a garden view room, so...)
You can do a couple of things. We asked for a room close to the Great Ceremonial House, for convenience purposes, and they put us in the Samoa building. We were on the side facing the East Pool (also known as the Quiet Pool.) Rooms on the other side faced the Volcano Pool, so they may have been preferable. We didn't even think to ask. But Samoa was a wonderful building, and I would definitely recommend it for people with children because of the close proximity to the monorail/buses/food/pool, etc.
On the OTHER hand, if you'd really like an extra-magical room, you could always try to ask politely that if they *happen* to have a lagoon view room available, to upgrade you at no extra cost. This is something you should do when you check in, however, NOT in a fax.

I hope my blabbing made sense. You will have a wonderful time! The Poly is sooooo beautiful!

Re: Poly room question

We stayed at the Tokelau longhouse over spring break. We liked it there. It was by the Quiet pool and it is also between the Great Ceremonial House and the TTC. We were told that it was best to call the day you are arriving and request a room that way. That worked for us.

Re: Poly room question

I read somewhere in a magazine article that the Poly isn't reading(or responding,I guess) to faxed requests anymore because of the sheer volume that they get and they don't want to have to deal with people being disappointed anymore if they don't get what they requested. With that said,I could be wrong. It wouldn't hurt to do that. Just don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

NOT TOMORROW!

Since your stay isn't until the 13th, wait until the 9th to send it.

Central reservations doesn't move the info to the resorts until about 5 days prior to the reservation.

Be sure to address the Fax to the "Room Assigner"

For a Sample fax, look here: http://allearsnet.com/acc/cro1.htm
For other information, look here: http://www.magictrips.com/resorts/requests.shtml

Have a great time!

Re: Poly room question

We stayed in the Poly last June and had a room in Fiji. We were on the 3rd floor witha balcony overlooking the marina. A great room for a garden view. We could see the Contemporary and the monorail leaving the Contemporary from our room. Close to the GCH.

We faxed a request 4 days prior asking for a room in Fiji and gave reason for wanting to be close to GCH and would like a nice view. The more specific you are, the less likely you will get it. Mention most important request first.

Also mentioned our anniversary we would be celebrating while at teh Poly in the fax, and we received a basket of goodies and a rose on our anniversary.

My parents stayed at the Poly this past March, and I faxed a request for them and they got a great room also.

Also, if making priority seating for a meal on your son's birthday, be sure to mention this when making the reservation. We did this for our anniversary dinner at Cinderella's Castle for Dinner, and we received a set of etched champagne glasses.

Re: Poly room question

We stayed at the Poly on our first-ever trip to WDW (April 1-5). We faxed the day before, asking for 3rd floor of Tokelau with a view of the Quiet Pool. Our view also included the beach and Lagoon, which we enjoyed at "garden view" room rates. I hope you have a great time. We certainly plan to stay there on our next trip to WDW!

Re: Poly room question

We have stayed at the Poly several times. I usually call reservations and have them add a note to my reservations requesting the building we want to stay in. They have always come up with a room so far, just not always the particular room I requested.

Re: Poly room question

yes. Definately fax ahead...It can't hurt! Infact we did that before we stayed there on our Honeymoon and they gave us a beautiful room from which you could see the 7seas lagoon and space mountain from the balcony! They also made beautiful swans out of our towels and left flowers for us too.
The building was called 'Tokelau'....but i am afraid I cannot remember the room number ~ sorry
This building was close to the main lobby and also close to it's quiet pool.
It is a stunning resort and I just know you will adore it!

Have a wonderful time
