Refillable mug update direct from DISNEY!!

Last week there was quite a debate about the ethical issue of bring back mugs to WDW and using them at other resorts as well!!

I decided to call Disney themselves and ask!!

They replied that a mug bought at ANY resort was good for ALL of the resorts!! They also said that Disney wants people to be happy and did not mind if the mugs were brought back on later visits!!

I figured people would be interested on Disney's take on it!!

I was in the middle of last week's "debate" and I'd like to thank you for checking on it and reporting back. But I bet we still buy mugs our next trip - we love them as souvenirs and every-day reminders of our disney trips!

I am glad WDW is so tolerant toward this program. Great for everybody reusing their mugs. I still have to wonder how they can justify raising the prices each and every year of said mug. Could it be that maybe these upped prices are paying for the peple reusing them? Just a thought, not a debate or argument. The money for refills has to come from somewhere right?

I think you are right!! I will still buy a mug for a souvenier anyway and then I can use ours from last year and the new one too!!!! I think alot of people want to buy them anyway!!

Good News, however, I really look forward to getting a new mug from the different resorts as a suvenier so I will most likely still buy one. If I went back more often though I would probably just bring my old mugs back with me.

What if I'm not even staying at a resort and I buy one?? THen I go resort to resort and fill up said mug??
How about I buy that huge mug from BB and take it to the resorts? Can I refill it??
Ok guys I'm just being difficult and kidding around.
I figured after paying the 11 bux wdw would let you use it whenever, I mean thats a lot for a mug! Its just like going to 7/11 and buyin one of their mugs you can refill it forever for like 75 cents. Like where I work, if you buy one of our Books-A-Million mugs, you can get it refilled with coffee for 10 cents.
So I guess in the end is $11 worth unlimited soda?? Yes yes it is....although maybe thats another factor for price increas, we drink too much soda!`

Thanks for the update. I will pack my mugs and get them ready. I don't think Disney has to worry about getting my money, though, I will just spend it somewhere else. Afterall, who ever heard of coming home from a vacation with leftover money in your pocket?

:) I already have my Mugs from PC that we bought this past march packed .. but like others have said I have a large collection from different resorts and I will always add to that collection.

OH GOOOOOD!!!!!

One less thing I am "cheating" Disney on!!!!

I've used my CSR mug 3 years in a row and will continue to do so.

Hey, some of the counter service places in the parks will even refill it for ya if you ask nice (and use the excuse you have medication you need to take . . . which for me is true.) I have to pop a 1000mg. Anaprox 3X a day while I'm doing all that stumbling around, LOL.

Last year at MGM, the sweet girl at the snack stnad right inside the entrance filled it with frozen mocha for me - they were about to close though and it had poured rain the entire time we were there. All we got to see was the sooper-stoopid Little Mermaid show.

I hate to get into the middle of the debate that I have seen BUT..... I am really surprised that Disney said it was ok...
I just bought my ASMo mug last week for 11.99 or something like that.. (Which I thought was CHEAP for 9 days worth of beverages anyway.... ) I checked the mug and It states right on the mug :

Free refills until end of stay.
Refills only at location purchased.

The CM I asked stated the same thing.
Now I know they don't "monitor" use, but for 12 bucks per visit, why bother breaking the rule? If people start pushing the limit and use them everywhere or for years... They will eventually tighten security on them like Typhoon Lagoon and you will have to buy refill codes. Which really was a pain IMO. That mug ended up costing 16 bucks for 2 days worth.
Sorry to spark this again but I had to mention the fine print on the mug.
