Yet another Mug Question ...

We are staying at AKL for the first half of our trip, then switching to an off-site timeshare for the remainder. We are planning on getting the mugs, but my question is, after we leave AKL, can we still use the mugs? We will be parking at various resorts (valet) and going to the parks from there and we thought the mugs would come in handy for that ever so important morning cup of coffee.

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

From what Ive gathered the mugs are good, plain and simple. Still going back to a resort to refill the mug seems like it will take extra time out of the day. I guess it all depends on the plans you have that day, but if you're staying off prop there are sooo many places where you can get a quick cup of joe in the morning. Also you can get a nice cup of coffee and a quick breakfast at most of the buffets, denny's, bob evans, IHOP for only a couple dollars. Its what I do when I stay off prop.
p.s. it stinks that wdw resorts don't have coffee makers in the rooms! I thought that was standard now?

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

I was just reading up on the whole great mug debate - I didn't realize that the mugs were only intended for use during your stay at the resort (OK - I know that should be obvious - but I thought that for the price they were good for your entire trip) so I'm thinking I'll grab my coffee when I can. LOL what an incredibly inconvenient addiction (she says as she sips her cup-'o-jo).
Fred - You are right - it would take too much time anyways.

You're kidding, they DON'T?!

I've never stayed anywhere that didn't have a coffeemaker in the room!

Shoot, Disney - if crummy HoJo's has it, you could!

That said . . . we had coffee in our casita at CSR when we stayed there for my mom's conference she had there. (NADE)

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

Since CSR is considered a "convention" hotel, they do have coffee makers there.
I don't know why this makes a difference though. Oh well I think since they do offer that refillable mug, maybe they think they don't need to have coffee makers.
Plus I hear you can just ask mousekeeping for one, but I don't see why I have to ask someone that should be in my room standard.

Miss Lisa -

I was just checking on this for you in my Passporter. Apparently coffee maker are considered a listed amenity, by request at no charge to the room. Meaning, if you ask at check-in for one, you get it. Housekeeping or Mousekeeping will being it to your room. I agree with you all that this should be standard.

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

I have to be honest... after paying a pretty hefty amount (OK, THOUSANDS of dollars) for the airfare, the hotel room, the UPH tickets, the rental car, the clothes, the food, the souvenirs... I never even noticed the few dollars spent on a soda! But I do love my refillable mugs here at home! When I have one with me, it never fails to be a conversation starter... I have met lots of Disney fans just because they saw my cup!

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

I kinda wish I'd bought the Typhoon Lagoon one now . . . it was just a really cool one. *siiigh* I didn't get it b/c I only took $5 with me there - didn't realize they had lockers, then I get there and didn't have enough to get a locker anyway!

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

We had a coffeemaker in our room at CBR last August, but we didn't use it, since we had mugs and used them for morning java. (The coffeemaker was stored up on the shelf over the clothes-hanging spot and we would have had to have moved it down by the sink. It didn't look as if anyone had used it in a while).

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

okaaaaaay.... time out, and back up a swig (?). ALl this talk about the mugs, but still the initial question isn't really answered; Are the 13 dollar mugs worth buying to be refilled at (only?) the resorts (what about the parks?), or is it more cost efficient to buy a crate of cokes at walmart?

I think it depends on how much time you are going to spend at your resort!! We got coffee EVERY morning and used it for soda in the evenings and at a few dinners!!! We loved having the mug but to us it was a souvenier also!!

We bought coke at the supermarket for the parks and used the mug at the resort!!! We only bought ONE mug between us tho!!!

Re: Yet another Mug Question ...

I'll be there for 7 days, so would it be wise to purchase a (between 4 people) mug, or a mug each? Can you refill these mugs at the parks? The more yo think abt it, if you can't refill at the parks, it may not be wise to purchase one because you're not at the resort as often as you are at the park--then again how would I know 'cuz I've never bought a mug. But if they are refillable at the park, then I would surely get at least one!
