Beach or Yacht Club

Ok, my favorite resort is the Polynesian. However, I would love to check out the pool, stormalongbay, at the Yacht and Beach Club. My daughter loves to swim and the pool looks like a lot of fun. So my fellow board members, I'm looking to you for information on these two resorts. Which one do you prefer, Yacht or Beach and why, and what room location do you recommend.:)

Well we are staying at the beach club in August 2002. We could not decide where we wanted to stay we also have children who love to swim. I picked beach club because stormalong bay is supposed to be so great. we also picked the beach club honestly because i liked the rooms inside better and seemed the restaurants were a little closer too. I'll tell you how everything was when i get back. Hope we made a good decision for ourselves and the children.

Technically, the Beach and Yacht Club resorts are one resort. The rooms are nearly identical, they share Stormalongbay and the themes are also almost identical. I quote for the Disney website:

Yacht Club: The casual elegance of New England seaside resorts combined with an aquatic playground offering water slides and a pool full of surprises. This Deluxe Resort is located near a complete array of dining and recreational options. Within walking distance to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot®.

Beach Club: The casual elegance of New England seaside resorts combined with an aquatic playground offering water slides and a pool full of surprises. This Deluxe Resort features a complete array of dining and recreational options. Within walking distance to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot®.

You will notice that the descriptions are identical. Personally, I would go for the Beach Club Resort. It is usually more relaxed, and a little better for kids, where as the Yacht Club is usually the place where business people stay, less familes. Also, Beach Club is closer to EPCOT. I also like the rooms a little better, they aren't as pink at the Beach Club. Either one is a good choice, and you will love the pool, the boardwalk and the proximity to EPCOT.

Well the BC definitely seems to be more our style. I looked at the map and I didn't realize how sprawled out the resort is. We normally do a garden view, however, it looks like a garden view from the BC would be of the parking lot.
Is it worth the extra dollars to get the water view, or do you get a decent garden view?:nervous

I would just go with the garden view. With the new Beach Club Villas, it has blocked most of the view of the parking lot. You may also want to consider staying there as well, the rooms are just as nice, if not nicer, feature a small kitchen, and are brand new. You stil get access to all of the regular Beach Club amenities, and you also have access to all of the pools around WDW, and other DVC goodies. The price may be about the same, I will have to see when the release official pricing for the Villas.

By the way WDWIG has a great selection of photos for the Beach Club, you should check it out: Beach Club Photos

Oh, and here is the new map for the resort, includin the Villas:

Yach or Beach

Ah, now you really caught my attention ..... we have stayed on the Yacht Club Side for the past seven (7) years and love it!! (Guess that's an understatement considering). Whats the differance?? Not much. Actually they are pretty much the same. While the Beach has all the light colors associated with a beach theme, the Yacht Club has the polished hardwood floors and seems to be more of a nautical theme.

From my perspective the Yacht Clubs has the appearance of being more formal ... the conference center is closer to the yacht, so you often have folks in business attire.

The view ... we usuallyget a room with a water view, but I would love to get one of the rooms surrounding one of the quiet pools.

In any event, you can't go wrong with either. Great location, wonderful environment, excellent service. Will be there in a week!!

We stayed at Beach Club and my husband won't stay there again because of the fish smell that permeated the hotel. The seafood buffet smell was really strong! The other thing we found disconcerting was a very limited amount of quick food for kids. Beaches and Cream was the closest they have to 'fast food' and the wait there can be very long. If you have young kids you may want to keep food in the room for them. We also walked over to Boardwalk several times for food choices. I personally loved the hotel and would stay there again.
