Bonnet Creek Resort?

This may have been asked before but I'll ask again. Has anyone heard of Bonnet Creek Resort? When we were down in April, we went past it several times. I think when we were going to Typhoon Lagoon from the Grand Floridian. Is this a new Disney Resort or DVC?

I have been meaning to ask this for awhile but kept forgetting or no time!!

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

there's a thread here somewhere that went into detail about this resort, but I can't find it. oh well.

in short Bonnet creek is a very large timeshare resort being built OFF disney property right on the property line the access road is the only part of the hotel that was on disney property, disney was forced by the courts to sell it to bonnet creek. the last time I went by it was just in the clearing phase, you can see the clearing from I-4 between the exit for 536 and the ocesola parkway exit all though if you don't look carefully you won't see it.

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

We just go back from CBR earlier this week... the resort is taking shape (it is just up the road from CBR. They will not have any rights or privilages with Disney (no buses, park admissions) with the resort, unlike the Swan & Doliphin

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

It is a Fairfield Resort Timeshare Property. Here is some info on a webpage that I found if you want to look at it.

Fairfield Resort- Bonnet Creek Resort

It also states that the property should be completed in June. It is on a small piece of property that Disney had been unable to obtain for years. They were also successful in dragging out a court case in not allowing the owners of the property access to roads that Disney owns, eventually the courts said that Disney had to allow the owners access to buy/lease smallparts of their property to allow the owners of the Bonnet Creek property access to the roads. Disney relented and Bonnet Creek was developed, but those who buy into that timeshare have no perks of being on-property, because although they are surrounded by Disney they are NOT on-property and I'm sure Disney will treat them as such with no courtesies extended due to what Fairfield put them through over that particular piece of property. It was not a nice court battle.

Hope this helps.

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

Does anyone know the price of booking this resort??? I didn't see it on there, other than it looked like Farfeild's version of DVC. Also, are they going to provide transportation atleast to DTD, where you could catch busses to the parks??

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

It does not have prices because it is a timeshare and therefore it is based on a point system. I was just looking at their point system on another page that they have and I have to admit that the DVC system is a LOT easier to understand. We just bought into DVC and I got their system in one try. The system for Fairfield requires you to the season, week of the year, part of the week, amount per night/week, and unit you are using. For a one bdrm Deluxe unit used in the value season for one week during week 36-39 - it will cost you 84,000 pts. and more during high or prime seasons.

To my knowledge and what I can find out, you cannot just get a room at this resort. You have to buy into the timeshare and be an owner in order to stay at this property. This was part of the reason why Disney did not want Bonnet Creek there, they felt that it would compete with their own DVC properties.

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

well disney can strike back still, keep in mind that the bonnet creek resort will fall under the Reedy Creek Inprovement district zone and they could raise the taxxes or whatever they need to do for that. Not to mention constantly monitering building and code violations on them.

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

I would hope that Disney isn't that vendicative. I guess the only plus to Disney doing that would be that if Farfield got too sick of it they may sell the property to Disney, and BOOM they already have a hotel built for them.

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

Not only is it a Fairfield (which is being built right now), but they are planning on having 2 or 3 luxury resorts on property as well (JW Marriott, Ritz, etc., in addition to another timeshare, or expansion of the current Fairfield.

The property was not sold to Disney back when Disney planned WDW, and was never put up for sale. The original owners are developing the property. It is my understanding that the resorts will be able to offer some type of transportation, but most likely, only to DTD and the TTC. Disney would charge them entrance fees to go directly to any of the parks. It would get pretty expensive if they had to pay $8 every time they went to pick people up. Consider it just like any off-property resort, just with the entrance on Disney property.

Re: Bonnet Creek Resort?

I wondered if it would be the same kind of service that the DTD resorts had, but that would be good service because from the TTC people could easily get to any park or resort.
