DST we dont have money .. but we were never made to feel we didnt belong at the AKL ..or when we stayed at the Poly.. we felt we were treated wonderful. DH and I were just saying that it would seem that they should treat other CM's better then regular guest ..after all you s'pose to be part of the Disney Family

Thanks for those addresses. I will send one to all of them. Heck, if it made them change, or got some of my wasted money back, I would write President George Dubya himself!

In the converstaion she suddenly asks,"Are you staying at the lodge?" As I said we were taking the bus and it was after fantasmic, so Boma and Jiko were closed, there would be no other reason for going to AKL. Ashley said her tone sounded more like, how can you be staying AKL, you obviously look like you have no money. Also the cm's @ AKL, when they found out I was a cm myself were more like, oh the only way you can afford this is with your cm discount. They did not come out and say it, but their attitude showed it.

That is terrible!!! I do not care if you are using a discount you found online or are a CM, if you are paying any amount of money and Disney gave you a room key, then you should get the same treatment as any other guest. Disney offered this to you, because you served them so why shouldn't you get wonderful treatment!!!??? If the CM's at AKL said that you, wanted to they could stay at AKL with their CM discounts!!

Re: Warning about Boardwalk Inn Concierge

When it comes to Cm's its all the same as in the real world.
You have a certain job or status, you think you're better.
The front desk Cm's, I found to be snobby to me and when they saw I was a cm myself it was just like whatever. I think PVHNat was saying the same thing to me when she checked into PC in march.
On the other side, when I went to the foodcourts it was totally diff. It was like, way to go man, you're staying here! Since the folks workign at the foodcourts are typically college program or part time. So I think it all goes with what kinda attitude you have and what youre around. Deluxes cater to people with higher wealth, so I think they need that air of snottiness. Why rich people like being snotty is beyond me!
Still I did meet some great people when I was standing in line in the parks. It made me feel a little awkward though at times. When folks find out your staying at say AKL, they act a little diff. I had people acting like I was rich and saying wow you're so lucky, I can't even dream of staying there since it costs so much. Ashley herself felt out of place at AKL, cause she thought it was too rittzy glitzy for a small town southern girl. Me on the other hand didn't let it bother me and I took in the atmosphere. For the most part I did not feel out of place at AKL, for everyone who seemed to act like I wasn't rich, there were more people who acted as though since I was here I must be. It was a beautiful hotel, I loved it and I will be back!

the part about telling people your staying at a deluxe ..that did happen once a few years ago when we were staying at the poly. he was talking to someone at Epcot and they said they were staying at the All Stars and asked DH where we were staying. When he said the Poly the man suddenly got real quiet and made some excuse and walked away. DH thought it was very strange... heck we would be staying at one of the Deluxe in August if we werent going for our third time this year *grin* but we are far from rich .. its the AP discounts :)

disneyluva, we always talk to people in line or on the bus, I mentioned in a thread a while back what is strange is the people rarely get in to a conversation with anyone on the monorail.

DL,
I can't see not talking to folks in lines: waiting for buses, in attractions, at parades. There are so many people and you get to meet all kindsa folks!
Tink you're right though hardly anyone talks on the monorail, which is weird though since we all seem to talk on the buses! I figure it's just the ride to and from mk/epcot and everyone lookin out the window or listening to "the voice". In case you've never thought about it, have you noticed people hardly make eye contact on the monorail either??
But you see Tink, there is a stigma attatched to staying at a Deluxe and I don't know what it is. I guess since you're there you've reached the top?? I wonder how people will react when I stay at the GF?? Since I think I'd only pay >$200/night why not? I know how folks will react though, half will be like OMG they let anyone in in the GF don't they. The others, he's a celebs son isn't he?? I can tell he looks soo much like *insert famous name here* plus he walks around like he knows what he's doing/where he's going! Ah I have confidence thats all and I enjoy where I'm at, thats all! I just hope it rubs off onto Ashley, since I know she really did feel a little out of place at AKL without me.

your so right about talking to people ..we have had some fun talking to people ..once someone even said on the bus that they had been to my WDW webpage!!
and I have noticed that people on the monorail do not make eye contact ..I wonder why its so different ..only once in all the years we have been going did we have a conversation on the monorail and it was last August .. about the *Volcanos* at RainForest Cafe.

I just dont believe everyone that stays at the Deluxe resorts are rich. I think they are like us ..they just find a good discount *grin*. Or they dont stay more then a couple of nights. now the GF is too richy for our taste ..we have never wanted to stay there. I think we would feel out of place there, but I dont see why Ashley would feel out of place at the AKL. We have never been interested in staying at the Boardwalk either though.

Re: Warning about Boardwalk Inn Concierge

DST -
I can't imagine anyone making me feel bad becasue of what imaginary status they think I may or may not have. As for the woman who said that to Ashley, she was obviously a major JERK. I don't know how one looks like they come from money when everyone in WDW is wearing your basic shorts etc. I don't recall seeing ball gowns and tuxes on the people staying at the AKL I hate people who think they are better than others. Money doesn't make ANYONE better...worse in some cases actually.

Tink -
I did experince the "lucky you" and the silent glare when people asked me where I was staying for both my WL and AKL trips. I learned to include, I would never be able to swing a deluxe without great discounts and it helps that it is only me and my DD. I can't imagine how tough if it for people with four and more. If they still give me the silent glare or hmph, their problem.

I go in value season and save for a year to experience these great resorts. Besides, I have never been one to care to much if someone doesn't like me...actually I don't care at all. Who wants to befriend or talk to someone who judges you by where you stay? Not worth my time. There is to much magic at WDW to let someone upset my trip over something as ridiculous as where I am staying or how much money I have. Seems to me that people like this shouldn't be at WDW, because they are so bored that they are looking for things to be mad about. ....done now.....*hop* off soap box too

BTW: I know I am getting a little off topic, but where do you all find your best deals for Deluxe resorts??? I just am never sure where to look, partly because I do not like having to book outside of an official Disney site, for fear that it is illegal.

disneyluva I have used Mouseketrips for booking :) they are perfect in my opinion .. Mickey knows what I need / want and does a fantasic job for us.
So far I have booked 4 trips through them.. 2 I have gone on already and the june and August trip.
they are a Disney Only Travel Agent and since its run by our very own Admin.. well like I said .. he knows me :)

Yeah, I would imagine that Mickey does a wondeful job planning trips. I just tend to have fun booking my trip myself. I guess it is kind of my "labor of love", and when we get there I enjoy it more. I guess that is just my weirdness... Thanks, tink!

Bigjon-

I would definitely write to Disney. I would add the Boardwalk GM to my list as well. If it were me, I would be very polite and explain how thoroughly dissatisfied we were and that we did not receive the service (concierge) that we paid for. I would be specific about the fact that I wanted the money we paid for concierge service refunded since we did not receive that service or that the service received was poor at best. You might have better luck with the hotel manager.

I also agree that you should add a separate note with your letter giving praise to Linda and the excellent service she provided you.

Good luck!
