DL,
I have a great way to get some really sweet deals for the deluxe resorts, but I think you know my solution!
In all honesty though its a great way to get super deals on park admissions and discounts every which way!
I did post a link in another thread and miss dis was saying how she found an opportunity near her, so if you look you never know!

Maybe I will just have to use Mouseketrips next time, but as you can see from my countdown we have a little while.

It's never to early to start planning a WDW vacation. It makes the PDD easier to deal with.

Re: Warning about Boardwalk Inn Concierge

DST-maybe it is your age? I have been traveling since I was 20 as a travel agent and I used to get that kind of service in hotels and restaurants especially when I was younger because they thought I wasn't going to give a good tip or something or that I wouldn't know any better.

Re: Warning about Boardwalk Inn Concierge

I am fairly young and found that when I travel, I am highly discreminated against. From TSA agents doing extra screening for no reason to US Airways agents telling me that i could not sit in first class (whcih I had been upgraded to becauase they had goofed), "because it was not printed on the right paper". I am pretty sure they would never, ever do that to an adult. I am glad that CM's at Disney are used to younger people, so they do not discriminate at all.

Re: Warning about Boardwalk Inn Concierge

Wish I could say this is the first time I heard a complaint about the concierge service at a WDW hotel but it's not. I had a similar experience at the POLY last Oct. Complained, sent a letter etc. Received an apology call from a rep but that was it. Hard to believe Disney hasn't done more to fix this problem since it seems pretty common to receive less then expected service from the concierge staff. Sorry about you dissapointment but best of luck with your marriage.

Cindy,
sometimes with my age I don't really know anymore. I mean I've been to wdw since I was 18 by myself and all the beach resorts in my area. Most the places I go are fairly upscale for someone of my age and income level.
I never usually have a problem to be honest, and I think this trip was just a goof. I didn't have bad experiences per se, just a couple things people said just kinda rubbed my Gf the wrong way. As for me I don't get bothered since I know the kind of lifestyle I live and am used to.
The way that I carry myself I actually get more respect than someone my age should, its actually quite funny. I may only tip 15% at restaurants, but when it comes to fancy meals I have never had problems. The only irk I had were the front desk cm's which seemed pre-occupied with other things, or were just rushing me for the next people in line. I was just hoping for something more friendly when I checked into AKL. Now that I think about it, I didn't see too many smiling faces on the people checking it. A lot of it was here's your keys, paperwork, etc. then NEXT!
I will note this, the cm's were great in the Mara, most people I see never chat with the register cm's. Boy their eye's lit up when they saw I was a cm, where did I work, is this how I started with the company, they just loved talking to me. SO I say hats off to the cm's at foodcourts! They are the most under-appreciatted cm's at the resorts! Also the mousekeepers, well not mine at AKL, always said hello to me with a smile as I walked up and down the halls exploring AKL. I even had one mousekeeper say hello to me at least 3 times!
Maybe I was ranting when I said I got bad service, I didn't really, I just expect a bit more from the front desk, as the rest of the cm's I've encountered were on point game.

Re: Warning about Boardwalk Inn Concierge

All I can say is WOW! That's pretty bad-- and certainly uncharacteristic of Disney. I tell all my employees to make sure they're willing to tell the 1% that we do an outstanding job 99% of the time. 99% is just not good enough-- especially if you're the 1%.

Our anniversary experience (10yr) at AKL couldn't have been more the opposite. Everytime we turned around all the cast members knew it was our anniversary (some at AKL w/o the benefit of a computer right in front of them telling them). We were VERY impressed with the service at AKL and throughout the parks. Sorry to hear you had such an experience-- especially on such a happy occassion. One reason we like Disney (and spend the extra bucks to go) is that it is so predictably good.

I've heard other CM's say the same thing. I wonder if it's more of a 'well, you know how hard it is to do this job, so we can relax a bit around you' kind of a thing.

I can't imagine having to be 'disney cheerful' for an 8 hours shift! The ones who manage it, and so many of them do, have my respect. As someone in customer service myself, hats off!

Storm,
When we start acting like that, thats when we lose part of the magic.
Should I act any less magical cause someone works there as well? No.
As long as someone is off duty, they are a guest as well and should be treated that way.
It seems front desk Cm's are ones that shy from the magic, but there have been times when sit down waiters/waitresses are the same way. So I can't just isolate the incident with front desk cm's as I've heard stories about servers.
All I know is I stood out in the hot, sunny, stinky, TL Speedway for 8 hours and I always maintained the Magic. Actually I had more fun with Cm's when they came on. I've learned this, on attractions, you get more attentions being a CM, more often than not I was chatting it up with cm's that worked attractions. Guess it was cause I was a former attraction guy myself.

Re: Warning about Boardwalk Inn Concierge

Interesting, I got a card asking me to complete an online survey about the Boardwalk Inn. It had several fields for you to explain in detail any problems you had. I went into detail about my problems.

At the end it even provided an email address to write if you wanted specific help resolving an issue.

I sent an email that basically told them who I was, my specific complaints, requested my money back that I paid for concierge service. Then I copied an pasted my rant from this thread into the email, and provided a link to see the rant here on the internet.

Now I need to send the letters.
