WDW Resort Bus Drivers

I know I have said before how much we like taking the busses to the parks. And sometimes we have gotten drivers that are so much fun.
But there is something that I noticed this trip and want to comment on.
These Drivers are amazing and awful good at the job they do. Twice we left the parks in real down pour, and the Bus drivers managed to get us back to our resort safe and sound. I think thats a really amazing feat considering the crazy drivers in cars they must deal with. I noticed how so many just cut off the bus drivers and yet no one was thrown to the front of the bus, because the driver was not prepared. I think we have one DC member that drives a WDW bus and I hope he reads this ... I want them to know that at least one family is appreciative of their driving. I wouldnt want to even try and battle some of those cars leaving the parks in good weather, much less during storms and rain.

Re: WDW Resort Bus Drivers

I agree. In the week we were there, we had one driver who had a lead foot, but he never made us feel unsafe.

However, some of the younger guys need to learn a little panache when it comes to dealing with crowded buses. Some of them were borderline insulting when telling people to move into the back of the bus. The older drivers tended to be much more diplomatic about it.

I'm getting better at doing this myself, and I highly recommend it: When you experience outstanding service make sure you mention it directly to the person, but also get their name and make sure you let their management know it, too. I am often amazed at the number of service employees who are professional, curteous, friendly, smiling, outgoing, etc. when you consider all the complaints you hear about service travelling to a hot place in a hand basket so often. I think a big part of that perception comes from people who don't know how to be good customers. I think part of what MAKES a WDW experience is the service, but what makes the service is so many of us who simply know how to be good customers.

thanks for reminding me, I am writing a letter about the wonderful service at Pop Century to Guest Services and now that you have reminded me I am going to include the bus drivers: )

Re: WDW Resort Bus Drivers

I could not agree more with the topic at hand. The WDW bus drivers are great! My DD and I had a really great one who drove us from Animla Kingdom Lodge to MGM. We had the pleasure of dealing with him 3 times in one trip. I'm ashamed to say I don't remember his name. Thanks for reminding me of good customers skills. I will be sure to take a writing utensil and a tablet to note excellent CM's next time.

Re: WDW Resort Bus Drivers

This is a great post tinkerbell. I think that the WDW bus drivers don't get enough credit and they should be given some thanks. So thanks to all of the bus drivers at WDW for making everything that much more "magical". :D

Re: WDW Resort Bus Drivers

The only time that I have ever had a problem w/ the buses was when we waited 30 minutes for a bus to Typhoon Lagoon just to find that it was overcapacity. They need to have a CM out by the bus stops telling guests information like this.

We had a great driver going to the MK. He was really funny and when he first got on he said something like "is everybody ready for the house of the mouse!?" or something similar to that and the whole bus errupted (happily). He was really nice to the young kids and he always said Hi or Bye and was very polite.

Re: WDW Resort Bus Drivers

while I don't drive for disney and don;t very often drive busses with passengers I can tell you this can be a very difficult situation to drive in the rain, It really helps when the bus is loaded if everyone can be quiet. the drivers really need to concentrate on what is going on. also its the law in FL that if its raining out you must have your headlights on you would be amazed what a car in a downpour looks like in a mirror with out the headlights on, kind of like a slightly discolored section of road. Do remember while there are drivers that will get everyone singing and joking around it is the drivers first and foremost job to get you from point A to point B safely, some drivers will not talk at all while driving, keep in mind Federal law states they are not soppose to talk to anyone while the bus is in motion. Now there are some big loopholes in that law but I'm not getting into that.

I totally agree! The bus drivers are great. And if you really want some tips, inside info, etc., they're in the know.
