Need to vent a little...

Disney is trying my patience, as my family's trip gets close. When I booked our vacation, I made sure, all my communication was via email, so I would have hard copies, and thank goodness I did, now.

I put a deposit down, half of the cost of the trip, several months ago. When I did that, I explained to the Disney Employee, I was a teaching a college course this summer, and the wages I was getting from the course, would pay off the balance. She was completely understanding, said she would note it, on my account, since my payday would fall outside the normal timelimit of when the balance could be paid, July 15th.

"We want you to enjoy your visit to Disney World, and this arrangement will not be a problem, at all." Her words straight from the email.

Well, June 22nd comes along, and I get an email saying that I have not paid my balance, and if I do not send them the balance immediately, our vacation would be cancelled! Cancelled? We had a deal. Since the 22nd, I have played email and phone tag, with various Disney employees, trying to resolve this. Some have been very nice, and others have been awful. The biggest surprise for them, have been the emails, I forwarded to them, about the payment arrangement, that was set up months ago.

As of yesterday, I thought everything was fine, and they had agreed to honor the decision one of their own employees made, and I'd pay the balance on the 15th. Well today, I get another email, indicating my past due amount, and another threat of cancellation. I am almost to the point, of letting them cancel it, and save their threats, and stories for someone else. I am paying a lot of money for this vacation, and I didn't expect, things to turn ugly like this. I just dread opening my inbox, because every time I get word, that things are fine, someone else emails me with their threats, and I have to forward the previous email to them, to appease them.

Re: Need to vent a little...

Once everything is worked out, write a letter to disney telling them you are disappointed and dissatisfied with the service you received from the reservations department. We have had problems in the past and often disney has replied with either special certificates or a free stay at the hotel. We had several problems at the Coronado hotel with the billing, and previous to that the condition of the room we had at the sports resort. Disney credited us for the dirty room at the value resort and they gave us these passes for Magic Kingdom that basically were fast passes good at any time of the day, unlike the ones in the park which allow you to go through the line at a specific time. It was suppose to be in lieu of the time wasted at the check-in and check-out working out the billing errors.

Disney does not like unhappy guests.

Oh Curtis I hope it gets worked out and I agree with Caramia. You should write and let them know all about this.
I am so glad I use Mouseketrips to book mine.

I hope it does to. It just gets a so frustrating, to get such conflcting stories, and have my daughter's birthday trip, in limbo, this close to the day....

Re: Need to vent a little...

It seems to me that one of Disney's biggest problems is being able to maintain policies which are familiar to all it's employees. I think everyone has experienced the "ask one question - get five different answers" problem. I know it's a vast company, but policies should be clearly defined and understood by all the employees. It's so frustrating to never know who's giving you the right information, be it reservations, park hours, restaurants, etc. I hope everything works out for you and DO write a letter.

Re: Need to vent a little...

Please note that this is standard policy for Disney. While you may have had an agreement with an employee, their system cannot be changed. When a deposit is due 45 days out, you will receive a notice that it is due, with threats of cancellation, and continue to receive notices until payment is received. They will not cancel your reservation. Once you have money on the reservation, they won't cancel until they have spoken with your personally. If the agent noted on your reservation that you would pay by a certain date, someone should see that note. Just make sure you stay in contact with them until it is paid off.

I have had clients who have not paid until 10 days before the trip, and I had no problem holding Disney off.

If that girl didn't have the power to do what she said, than she lied. Fire her, write her up, have some training, do somethin. Don't punish me, because the employee didn't know what she was doing. No offense, and not trying to sound mean, but this is the most frustrating part of this. Had she just been honest, and said, she couldn't do it, I would have made other arrangements, but she assured me, it wasn't a problem. Well, she was wrong.

Re: Need to vent a little...

I would write Mr. Weiss right now and send it certified mail to make sure that someone at least signed for it. In my opinion, this is inexcusable.

Curtis, you have to understand. She did not lie, she noted on the system what the agreement was. Despite that, the system is required to send out notices. The system cannot read the notes left by CMs. These notices are just veiled attempts to get you to pay. They will not cancel your reservation. Think of them as a reminder. The are not hand written. They system sends out thousands of them a day.

Every time you get one, just call, make sure the reservation is ok, point out that you will be paying on the 15th, end of story. I see no reason to get upset, write a letter or anything else. Now, if they cancel your reservation, then you can get mad.

Mickey is right .. I hate to admit this, its embarrasing to me, ..but last August my BIL was not just late with the payment .. he sent a hot check .. Mickey kept me asured that the package for my Sister and niece had not been canceled in spite of that.

Mickey I know you do not advertise for yourself here, but I hope you do not mind my bragging on you .. and Dixie thinks your OTT also, She cant stop singing your praises about the savings and help you have been for their trip.
