Icon5 Boat Transportation From The Port Orleans

We are planning a trip to WDW in November and are scheduled to stay at the Port Orleans Riverside. I was told that there was some type of boat transportation provided from the Port Orleans resort complex direct to Downtown Disney...

Is this correct ?? If so, does anyone know what hours this transportation is provided and how frequently it runs ??

Any assistance with this matter would be most appreciated...

Thanks

Yes, that is correct, and I believe they run from like 9 to sunset, but I'm not sure.

There is a boat that runs to DTD. Whenever I have seen it, the boat looked fairly crowded. The stop at DTD is back behind Rainforest Cafe.

Re: Boat Transportation From The Port Orleans

When we were there I think it ran about every 20 min. in the evening. It was fun to go at night but I would still like to see more during the day. I don't remember when it stops runnuing at night, we took the bus back after we were done playing at DTD. I am thinking it does not run untill closing time at DTD, but I could be mistaken.

we used the boat transportation and loved it! Granted, there's probably quicker ways, but the relaxation is well worth it. The cool breeze over the water is very soothing.

Re: Boat Transportation From The Port Orleans

We took the boat back to Port Orleans from DTD last month. The boats are like large pontoon boats with bench seating. (They call it the Sassagoula Steamboat Company). We took the boat back to the resort at about 10 or 10:30 at night. I'm not sure how much later than that they run. At that time, they were running about every 10-15 min. Hope that helps!

Re: Boat Transportation From The Port Orleans

I don't know the exact hours they start at I want to say around noon with hourly service, then at 4 they go to 15 min service. (not 100% sure about that) the closing time depends on what time the marketplace is open till, last night when I was over at the west end I saw one going into the dock by the RF cafe at 11:30 PM. I'm guessing that would be for at least one more pickup.

the ride is one of the most peaceful anywhere and well worth it event if it does take extra time as compared to the bus serivice.

Re: Boat Transportation From The Port Orleans

The boat ride to DTD is great!!! It takes a while but is very relaxing!!!
The boats are about every 15 min to 30 min or so all day until about 11:30 or 12 midnight!!!
They make 2 stops in DTD one on the West end and on on the East end!!!

Re: Boat Transportation From The Port Orleans

they no longer make the west end stop however there is a shuttle from the marketplace to the west end that you could board at the marketplace dock.

Re: Boat Transportation From The Port Orleans

It is a great ride. Early in the morning the mist is still hanging over the water and land, and late at night with the moon and stars hanging over head, it is a wonderful experience to do just for the fun of it. Sit by the pilot, they are usually a great resourse for info. The trip takes you past the golf courses, and the old tree houses, and you get a great view of the new resort.
