Fantastic CSR pics!

Hey, check out buzz2001's page about the Coronado Springs Resort!

buzz2001's CSR Website

I just followed the link in his/her signature, and what beautiful photos!!! I'm always puzzling over why the official photos on the WDW website make everything look so *awful* (washed out, tired, etc...). I had gotten the impression from the official WDW website that CSR was sort of squat and tired. But after seeing these, it's back on the list of places that look great to try.

Thanks, buzz2001, for the fantastic pics!

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

Hi trillium! You may want to book your next vacation at another moderate, and then take a bus ride over to CSR for lunch and a quick walk around the property, just to get an idea of the resort before you go for a whole vacation there... In person, the hotel is convention-y, and the courtyards are sort of barren, the rooms are dark and small, and the pool is very far away from many of the buildings. Also, I felt it was sort of floating in the middle of nowhere, between AK and everywhere else. The other moderates feel like they are in the middle of everything, since you can see fireworks form the CBR parking lot, and you can take a boat to Marketplace from POR and POFQ.
We visited family at CSR, and we felt so bad for them! They didn't get that yummy Disney magic feel that you definitely get at POR, POFQ, CBR... I know some people adore CSR, but I would have been sorely disappointed if we had ended up there.
Just a thought...

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

Hi MissDisney!

Hmmm...Thanks for the 'other side' view of CSR. It's funny how photos can make the same resort look amazing (buzz2001's)...or awful (official Disney's, IMHO). You're so right --there's no substitute for the actual experience.

Thanks for the balance!

They pics are very nice. They compliment the resort nicely. Nice job Buzz.

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

Hey MissDisney....
Not to start an argument - especially since everyone is entitled to their opinion about the happiest place on earth . But I must respectfully disagree with your take on the CSR.

My DW and I stayed there on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. When my parents offered to take us with our DS and DD back to WDW this September and sprung for Fort Wilderness cabins (where we used to stay when I was a kid), DW was actually disappointed. Granted, our honeymoon was her first experience with staying on WDW property (her only other WDW experience was spent staying in Cocoa Beach), but she is a little bit on the picky side - yet she absolutely loved CSR!

I've had family in Florida my entire life, so visits to WDW have been rather common for me - far from an expert, but a seasoned veteran at least! Like I say, I've stayed at FW the most, so I was set up to be the CSR's biggest critic before the honeymoon. But it won me over in a hurry (surely it had nothing to do with the memories of being a newlywed!!! )

Yeah, it is a large hotel, but what in Disney isn't large!?! The theme is fantastic, the CM's are wonderful, the services are outstanding, it's actually the one resort that is the closest average distance to all of the theme parks and DTD (most resorts are close to one or two parks, but a big hike to the others). All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience at CSR.

Just my two cents.......

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

Hey JD Dis... I know lots of people really love CSR, and I especially read lots of compliments about the pool area. I just was disappointed in the property when compared to other moderates. But, there are definitely enough WDW resorts to satisfy different tastes -- for instance, we love POR, which has "Down South" theming that many of our friends find unsettling (they think the theme is depressing), and instead they want to enjoy the glitz of Contemporary or the tropical paradise theme of CBR. That's exactly why I suggested it might be worth taking a look at the hotel before booking.
I am glad you enjoyed your stays there! And I apologize if anything I submitted made you sad!

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

I didn't care for CSR at all. It seemed far more spread out than the other resorts, and definately had the convention feel to it. While I don't tend to spend too much time at the resorts when I go, I would have to say CSR didn't have the feeling of "coming home" at the end of a long day at the park that some of the other resorts have.

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

I think CSR is super fantastic!! It is beautiful and really gives you the feeling of being in the southwest. The room was no smaller than the others. We had a king size bed very near the bus stop and only a short walk to the pool. There may be some rooms that are far but you can request a one that is not. It has a beautiful lagoon with bridges and the pool area is absolutely the BEST with a very large hot tub. When you walk in the main building and look up at the ceiling the view will take your breath!! Cowboy Mickey has posted some really awesome pics too. We had absolutely no complaints and would go back in a second!!

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

Thanks everyone for the great feedback!!

CSR is a great resort no matter how you slice it. It has the best pool of all the mods, terrific transportation that is NOT shared with any other resort and more deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort. Mousesavers.com votes in #1 in the mod category.

From mousesavers.com
"Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court."

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

Couldn't agree more. I have never ever understood how some can not like it. To me it is much prettier the CBS, so unique. We were in Rancho's but next time I want a Casita right by those wonderful hammocks!!

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

Sorry guys I have stayed at several resorts and disliked CSR very much. I too find it very dark. I do not like the food court...Because of family members working for Disney I can get a cast member rate. It seems that the best cast member rate is always at CSR which I always pass on. I have never had the Disney feeling when I have stayed there...

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

I tried to like CSR - I really TRIED! Because I was the one who insisted on staying there when the rest wanted to go back to POR. The lobby was beautiful. But the atmosphere just wasn't very "Disney", we found the rooms dark, which made them appear smaller, the Rancho landscaping wasn't very inspiring and like so many, just didn't like the food court. All I remember of that trip was all the walking we had to do. We were there in Feb. and the wind off of the lake was so cold! And we had to walk around it to get to the lobby every day. Sorry, just not a fan.

Re: Fantastic CSR pics!

No apologies necessary. Everyone has different tastes but that doesn't mean CSR is a bad place. Just not your cup of tea.

llama & slist - where did you stay that the rooms were dark? the ranchos? I find the colors in the cabanas very bright and festive. The rooms in each area (casitas, ranchos, cabanas) have different colors and design and all have been redone in the last year.

What a dull site this would be if everyone agreed. We stayed in the Ranchos (the place was brand-spanking new) and I just remember it seeming so dark, compared to POR or FQ. Since staying there, we've become DVC members and have fallen in love with OKW - yet some people don't like it at all, saying it doesn't have the Disney excitement. So - isn't it great that Disney has something for everyone. If you don't like one, you can always find another!
