In room child care?

Hi,

I am wondering about in room child care? We are going to be going to a tour that our son can't go on and in room child care as been arranged. We feel kind of guilty for leaving him in the room for 4 hours while we are at the tour but he is only 10 and you have to be at least 16.

Anyone ever use the in room child care? Do they play any games or anything like that?

I wish they would off the little mousekateer thing its kind of like a play center. That is only open after 4:30 though :hmmm.

Thanks,

Jena :)

Jena, did you arrange it through Disney, and was it included in your package?

There are a couple of companies that provide in-room child care at WDW. Disney used to use kindercare, and still does for it's onsite childcare center for CMs. They now use Kids Night Out for all of their in-room service since they were having problems with kindercare. One highly mentioned company is Fairy Godmothers.

Since your son is older, and it is in the middle of the day, I would call around to the services and ask them what they would do with him during the 4 hours. I would guess that at least one of them would take him to MK while you are on the tour, or at least swimming or something. I wouldn't want to sit in the room for 4 hours, no matter how entertaining the sitter is. I don't think my 10 year old would either.

Fairy Godmothers: (407) 277-3724
All About Kids: (407) 812-9300
Kids Night Out: (407) 827-5444

One suggestion, make sure you get a key to your room that has no charging privileges and can't be used as part of your package, only opens your door, so the sitter will be able to go in and out of your room, but won't be tempted by having full access to all your money. You can just request that at the front desk at check in or at any other time.

when my sister goes to WDW her and her husband always spend a night at Pleasure Island. Her two kids are 12 (samantha) and 9 (zachary) and she goes for the in room child car. When the babysitter(s) (she always get two, usually a male and female babysitter) came they bring a big buffle bag full of things to do. Last time they brought games for both of the kids. Then the girl who came played dress up and took sammy to the pool while the boy who came took zack to the game room for some video games and then took him to the pool also. They will do a lot of things with your child but anything that cost money (ie: the video games) you have to provide the cost. Let them know where they can take your son and I'm sure he will have a great time.:)

I know that in the future we won't be able to get away without some sort of child care at Disney and I am so glad that people on this board are happy with it! I was concerned about just having someone come in the room with a book to keep themselves occupied but, Disney never fails, does it? They know how to do everything right! :)

Thanks everyone!

Mickey

Yes, in room child care and the kids club after 4:30 is part of our package. The planner already set up the person to be there. We really are struggling with this since we just hate the fact of leaving him with a total stranger plus he doesn't seem to thrilled about it either.

I think I am going to ask our planner tomorrow just what exactly they do in the time they are there. I don't know if I would want the person to take him to a park because what if he got lost or what if ..... I know he is 10 and he knows how to take care of his self for the most part but....

As for charging to the room, WOW I didn't think of that I will make sure no one can do that! When we stay at Disneyland Hotel we normally never charge to the room and our KIDS NEVER are able to do this. lol Look mom I bought the whole store seeeeeeee!!!

*sigh* I don't know the more I think about it the more I think I don't want to leave him with a stranger. I know if I were him I wouldn't want to be either.

Thanks again,

Jena :)

LadyJena, I understand how you feel. I hated leaving my daughter just at the Simbas Cub House for a few hours (while I did laundry) but it worked out great. What resort are you staying at? I'm sure you've said before but I have a short memory.

I would do what you feel comfortable with. If it really bothers you and you are going to be worried through your whole tour, then it might not be worth it. You know your child better than any of us, so just follow your heart

I just realized you leave tomorrow, so you may not see this. I'm curious to see what you've decided. I hope you have a Wonderful Vacation :)
