Why not do a middle of the road resort. WL is $121 and Poly is $230, and $80 for a Moderate. Sooo.... Go for WL, it is a beautiful resort and you could get the best of both worlds.

Re: Moderates and more days or Deluxe and less days

Bear in mind the differences between Deluxe and Moderate resorts in general -- it's not just not quite as themed and slightly smaller room for a cheaper price, and some of the differences may be a deciding factor for you.

Most D's have sand beaches, most M's do not.
Many D's are one large building with an an entrance through the lobby. M's have exterior entrance/exits to each individual room and floors (think Motel 6 style). D's have food court, moderate restuarant(s), and expensive restaurant(s). M's have food court and a moderate restarurant. I believe the room service menu is larger for D's, but I could be mistaken (don't do room service). D's have on-site child care "clubs". D's have gym areas (as does CSR). (Both M & D have a slide at the main pool and quiet pools near the resorts.) My experience has been that D's have marble bathroom counters and Ms do not. Many Ds include a couch (as they sleep 5) whereas Ms only have table & chair. Ds tend to have balconies (or 1st floor patios) to sit on, Ms do not (necassary as the entrance/exits are outside). Coffee makers and hair dryers are different, but I don't remember if that's between values and M & D, or not -- but I think they're available on request...maybe... Ds are built to be close to a particular park, Ms are farther away -- although with the exception of the monorail resorts and walking to Epcot from Yach, Beach & Boardwalk, the distances don't seem that much of a diff to me. Many Ds have a character meal on site, Ms do not. And that's all I can think of right now! :)

Re: Moderates and more days or Deluxe and less days

Mt wife and I split our trip in 2000. Her boss gave her a trip to WDW for extra work she had been doing without the benefit of overtime pay. He gave us a 4 day stay and we added 3 to it. The first 3 nights we stayed at the CBR and then moved for the last 3 nights to the GF. Unless we hit the lottery that will probably be our only stay at the GF. It was great and we really enjoyed the view we had. We could see the castle from our balcony. It was a memory we will never forget.

Re: Moderates and more days or Deluxe and less days

I would not want to stay at the GF for 14 days, but I would love the WL for 14 days. And also the FW cabins for that long, which we did and loved!

I don't feel the need to get all "suited" just to run down to the lobby. I need to be proper and well dressed in my real life, at Disney, it's all about fun, and relaxing with the family, not putting on Airs...just Ears
But to each their own, it is a beautiful resort!

Although EmpressJenny has a great point :) I think I'd split the time to stay more days. We go every Christmas and always tour the deluxes anyway... The cost5 difference is very large, even with AP rates.
