To change or not to change?

What to do... what to do...Just got an email from our travel agent that a discounted room at AKL just opened up. We have reservations right now at POFQ. We can get a Savanah view room at AKL for $450 more. It is within our budget to pay this extra amount.

Thoughts on whether we should stay put or change?

I have rented a car, so no problem with distance for AKL. I like the idea of their theme, but is the pool cool? My daughter is all about the pool...and even though we are in WDW, she will use it!

At POFQ, I like the idea of bikes and the marina if we decide to take a day and hang at the resort.

As always...THANKS

Re: To change or not to change?

If you are going to be at your resort more then I would probably say stick with POFQ. AKL is an absoloutly beautiful resort, but it doesn't have the features that other resorts have. POFQ has access directly to DTD, and yes has the marina. If your DD likes animals, then go for AKL.

Re: To change or not to change?

We are going to be in WDW for 5 nights. I was toying in my mind of splitting our stay at both resorts but not sure if that is smart with my 3 yr old dd. And my dh will think I am crazy for changing my mind on which resort to stay at again !

Re: To change or not to change?

I think the idea of splitting it is a great one! The resort transfers all your stuff over so you wouldnt really be moving anything yourself. That way you can try out both resorts.

if it is within your budget, then go for it. The experience is worth every dime I think. I stayed there this past january and loved it. My DD says the pool is the best one yet. It's HUGE with a little water slide. No worries on the transportation there either. We took WDW transportation and found it to be VERY good. You may be far away from things, but you aren't sharing abus with any other resort making it just as fast or faster than the other resorts. Gor for it!

Re: To change or not to change?

Just emailed the travel agent...took AKL for the whole vacation. From the reviews I read, shouldn't be dissapointed. I am such a freak when it comes to a place to stay!

Thanks for the input:)

Re: To change or not to change?

I think you made great choice! We loved it. The pool is great, it has, on one side, a beach type of walkin entrance, so it is great with little ones. IMHO try every resort at least once!

Re: To change or not to change?

Only about 24 or so, trips should do it! We tend to keep going back to our favorites, and look forward to new ones whenever we can. Since we discovered the magic of Disney Cruising, we tend to save more for that.

We have stayed at the AKL and it was just beyond words .. loved every minute of it ..our only regret was we didnt spend much time at the resort.

Re: To change or not to change?

I like the idea of trying new hotels. On our trip last week we went to AKL and WL to see if we would stay there and it would be a toss-up between the two.We stayed at Pop Century and loved it.

I have stayed at a different resort each trip and I am not even half way through the possibilities yet. I think staying at a different resort each time makes each trip unique and magical.

Re: To change or not to change?

Sorry this may be late, but I would make the change. If you go to any unofficial site and read the reports about guest who have stayed at the AKL. I have not heard anything bad from the resort. I have tried to convience my wife to change but she loves the FW cabins. (you get a kitchen and all) Just take a look. You will have a car and it s a delux resort with a great pool and the views. Have a great time.

Re: To change or not to change?

Besides the room, you must also look at the restaurant at each hotel. See if the menu makes a difference to you or not. No one in my family liked the food at AKL last time we visited, therefore that makes AKL a non-choice for us when we stay at WDW.
