Icon5 December Swimming

Okay, I know the pools at the CB are "heated." But what does that mean? Is it warm enough to swim outside in early December? My DS will be horrible upset if we have a pool, and he can't use it.

Re: December Swimming

Just depends on the weather. We have only been once in December where we couldn't, or didn't swim. Of course, it was 55 outside, but there were still people in the pool, we just didn't go. Most of the time, you will be days that are 75 and a bit above, 50 at night or so. Plan on swimming, and watch the weather before you leave, just to make sure it won't be extra cold.

Re: December Swimming

My DD and I went in January and found several afternoons for her to use the pool. I would not let her go in at night because it was just to cold, but the afternoon temps were plenty warm enough. We even had an afternoon where it went to the low 80's. I was very careful, however, to make sure once she came out of the pool that she went in the hotel and changed.

Re: December Swimming

I have never been in Dec, we usually go in Nov, but I am hoping for temps warm enough to let the kids take a dip in the afternoon. We are staying at POFQ and they are both dying to use the dragon slide.

Re: December Swimming

We were down during the first week of January and were swimming at the Boardwalk Villas pool. It was perfectly fine in the water. Getting out was slightly chilly because there was a cool breeze, but it was great.

Re: December Swimming

Because the pools are heated, it is frequently warmer in the water than the air temps outside at that time of year. So while you can still enjoy the pools then, you'll want something nice and warm to dry off with and bundle up in when you get out. (I'm bringing a fluffy terry robe this Dec) Walking cold and wet through the lobby after a dip can be most unpleasant.

Re: December Swimming

We were there the first week of Dec. last year and did a little swimming. The weather was pretty varied from the low 60's to upper 70's during the day. So if you are there for any length of time, the weather will hopefully cooperate.

Re: December Swimming

If your DS is anything like my DD's , he will LOVE to be swimming in Dec. We went to WDW in Dec and like mmouse, the weather varied but our girls , who at the time didn't have a pool to swim in, could care less what it was like outside and just wanted to swim. I just dressed warm and brought a couple towels that they could wrap in. The LOVED it and couldn't wait to tell their friends they were swimming in Dec!

Re: December Swimming

Do the pools at deluxe resorts provide towels? If so, can you bring them to the room or do you need to leave them there?

Re: December Swimming

I have never had a problem in December as long as the pool was heated. My DD loves the pools. If weather permits we always swim.

Yes they do!!! I think only the value resorts don't. I think you are not supposed to bring them back to the room, but we have when DD & DS were too cold to walk back to the room wet.

We swam last year in December. But you never know with the weather. The 15 day forcast show that it's supposed to be between 73 & 79 for highs. I'll swim then! Are you going again???
