Icon8 King Beds BEWARE!

Ok this is something that REALLY burned my butt. I was trying to book my trip for Jan. at AKL, and requested a king size bed. I understand they're always just requested not guaranteed. I asked them to check to make sure they are available in the savannah view rooms because when we were at the Poly we stayed in a standard room, with a king bed requested.

After I had all that trouble at the Poly I complained that it was our anniversary and we didn't get the king bed. Then I was told that king beds are only available in SUITES at the Poly. And my reservation agent couldn't have told me that when I BOOKED??!??!?!?

So anyhow, when I was booking AKL, I asked the agent to please check so I wouldn't have that issue again. She told me they were available in savannah view, and when she checked the Poly it said in large red letters "No King Bed available except for suites".

I complained to guest services about this. I understand it's just a bed, but for a romantic getaway, something like that makes a difference. Plus I feel really misled and treated poorly.

So look out guys, when you're booking. If you want a king size bed, make sure you get someone competent to look into the matter for you.

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

Please be aware that while AKL does have king bedded rooms, there are only 79 of them out of the 1,200 or so rooms at the resort. Make sure you follow up your request with the resort before you arrive.

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

Thank you for the suggestion Mickey. I also got off the phone w/reservations and they said if this time I request the king bed and don't get it, I should ask for a manager when I'm checking in. I never wanted to kick up that much of a fuss when at the front desk, but I guess that's what I might have to do.

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

It was my understanding that king beds were guaranteed at all but the value resorts. We reserved a king-sized bed for our upcoming stay at CBR, paying a specific price for a room with the larger bed. Sorry to hear about the confusion during your trip! I hope we can avoid any hiccups as we will be on a romantic trip, as well.

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

We had a king size bed last fall at the CSR. It was not guaranteed but we had no trouble getting it. It was a fantastic stay!

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

We had one when we went for my B-day last year, also at CSR. We had no problem there either, even during Labor Day. We paid an extra fee for it I think. I have never tried tp get one at a delux, but I might for our next trip @ WL. (now you got me thinking Jenny, lol)

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

We've had a king bed at the Beach Concierrge, but I think that might be the only time we've had one. At the WL we had a queen and the bunk beds (like a married couple with no kids needs that). I think most of the rest of our stays have been rooms with two queens. But the queens are big enough for that "romantic" feel you desire and will put your two bodies closer together, and isn't that more romantic. Plus you have a second queen to use instead of a floor. We've had more consistant results getting a king bed at the Universal resorts. Also, when staying at the deluxe resorts, the view is more important for me than the size of the bed.

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

This was our last family vacation (not to Disney). You'll note, I slept on the floor most of the night.

That was my life for 3 years! I couldn't get all my young ones to sleep all night in their own beds! I try to block it from my memory, lol!

Cute picture, Jeff!

Re: King Beds BEWARE!

We too had paid extra for a king size bed at CBR and got one without incident.

Sounds like it is not worth staying at the Poly, based on your experience. Hopefully AKL will be better for you. Good luck.
