Talk is on for next trip, but, where to stay??

We are planning on May 2006 for our return...yippee!!! Our last two trips we stayed at CBR and loved it, but I want to try another resort. Maybe POFQ. My DH is not one for change and it is nice to know your way around a resort before you even get there, but I want to try another.

I would love to stay at AKL or WL but may be too expensive. Do they only have one pool at each resort? We were so use to all the pools at CBR. The other thing we liked too was the foodcourt at CBR. AKL and WL don't offer anything like that either right? Does POFQ?

Thank you!

Re: Talk is on for next trip, but, where to stay??

I really like POFQ, very compact, easy to get around. WL and AKL are just big buildings, so they are easy as well. POFQ has the main pool, as well as the use of the Port Orleans Riverside main pool and quiet pools. AKL has the main pool (which is huge), and WL has the main pool, and a quiet pool over by the villas. FQ also has a food court similar to CBR. AKL and WL both have a snack place, though they do serve meals. Not quite the same as the food courts at the moderates.

If you can swing the WL, I would try to stay there. FQ is a great option though, if you want to try another moderate.

All resorts have more than one pool, and all have a food court. I choose POFQ for our upcomming trip because of the small amount of rooms, and the wonderfully updated rooms. The price was also fairly reasonable with the discounts.

Re: Talk is on for next trip, but, where to stay??

Yeh, I was kinda thinkin' that AKL & WL would be more like big hotels, but with the theme. CBR is beautifully themed and really doesn't look like a big hotel.

Reading everyone's posts, I really would like to try PO. They've just remodeled and they are also adding fridges too. Is there a huge difference between PO and POFQ?? Also, what parks is it close too? CBR is situated in the perfect spot for almost everything.

I know we have over a year and a half to plan, but, I just can't wait to start planning again. I keep singing MIC see you real soon, KEY why because we like you.......... Oh how I would love to be there right now!!!!!

Re: Talk is on for next trip, but, where to stay??

PO is a DTD resort, so it technically isn't VERY close to any parks. It is closest to Epcot. POFQ is very idfferent from POR. POFQ is very small, but POR is humongous. There are a few theming differences, POR is supposed to feel more like Louisiana (sp?). Only POFQ was rehabbed, but does not as of yet have the friges. They are actually in the process of installing them, but as of last week a CM told me the $10/day Policy was still in effect for POFQ. One thing to keep in mind is sometimes during slower times PO has one bus. POFQ is the 1st to be dropped off, and the 1st to be picked up. This garuntees that you will get on the bus in the morning at POFQ.

Hiner AKL is comparatively priced to the moderates...it's the lowest priced of the deluxes. Maybe by your trip the extra cash might materialize? With a discount your room could be lower than the moderates.

CNR & I love POFQ. It is "right sized", romantic, and fun. You with enjoy the ground for a moon light walk or just sitting and watching the river

Re: Talk is on for next trip, but, where to stay??

We've only stayed at AKL. But we just loved it. The pool was fantastic. Two very nice secluded hottubs and they do have a food court, but with Boma there, we didn't eat there much. I'd be staying there next month, but I realized if I stayed at a mod (POFQ), I could afford one more night!

I would highly recommend either POFQ or POR. POFQ is the more intimate of the 2 but you can't do wrong with either.

Re: Talk is on for next trip, but, where to stay??

I told our DS that we were gonna go in a year and a half and he was so excited. Then I told him that I wanted to try another resort and he freaked. His first trip was this past May and he loved CBR.

Then later that night I took out my Passporter and looked on the map. It isn't that far from the parks, and close the DTD. We rent a car for our trip and drive to all the parks, so transportation isn't an issue. It is just trying to talk the guys into a new resort.

I am still hoping for POR or POFQ. I have a year and a half to work on them, right???

I did notice that about AKL EmpressJenny. I think we're gonna try Simba's Club for our DS one night. I am also hoping to go resort hopping this time.

We are good money wise, just wondering if it is worth spending the extra if you really aren't there that much?!?

I cannot say enough good things about POR. We loved it when we stayed there! Very nice resort with everything, and a terrific POOL.

Does POR/POFQ have a good amount of things to do for kids?

Re: Talk is on for next trip, but, where to stay??

If anyone wants to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, they are more than welcome to come and spend a week w/me and Pete up here in the Poconos. It's the same thing!

Plus we have a huge bear that likes to sit in our front yard now.
