Icon5 Boardwalk Inn

Just booked the Boardwalk Inn for 3 nights in January. My wife and I will be staying with our 2 DS's ages 4 and 7. Can anyone give me some comments on the hotel (Good and Bad). I have never stayed in this area. Is the transportation convenient? Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks.

Rich

Re: Boardwalk Inn

Rich, you will love the BWI. The roller coaster slide is great, my kids love it.

You will have boat access to EPCOT and Disney-MGM, and bus access to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. EPCOT is only about a 5 minute walk, and you can walk to MGM. Just ask the front desk the quickest way to walk. I think from BWI, if you go out the front door, it is only about 10 minutes.

Oh, and the restaurants are fantastic! Spoodles and Flying Fish are two of my favorites. Plus, you have the ESPN cafe and the brew pub, both have good food as well, and pretty affordable.

Re: Boardwalk Inn

We were at the Dolphin when we went in September. The busses are used for the Dolphin, Swan, Beach Club, and Boardwalk. The most we were on any one bus from the resort to anywhere was about 15 - 20 minutes. I was impressed because I have heard nightmares about people being on the busses 45 minutes to an hour. Ours wasn't bad.

Re: Boardwalk Inn

We've walked through the Boardwalk Inn, and we LOVE it. The only reason we didn't book it for this trip is because of the discount code for AKL where we've never stayed either. Next trip though, we're definitely staying at BWI.

Have not stayed on the Inn side, but have stayed at the DVC suites at Boardwalk. I love the Boardwalk, the hotel and the grounds and the boardwalk, everything about it. I love that whole area, so much to do, and you can walk to two parks from there, MGM and Epcot. Really great, I think its the most convenient area resorts, Swan & Dolphin, Yacht & Beachclub and Boardwalk, all situated around the waterway. You can walk all the way around, you can enjoy breakfast or coffee on the boardwalk in the morning. they have a nice bakery, grab a coffee and sit outside and look out over the lake, just beautiful. Lots of restaurants, but pricey, ESPN Club, a dance club and a piano bar. And the boardwalk itself has little booths with food, fun and games for everyone all the time, and at night it comes alive.

I think you will love it, and try the surrey bike ride. Take care and have a good time, and let us know how you liked it..........

Re: Boardwalk Inn

We've stayed in that area, though not that hotel, as well as AKL and Contemporary. The Boarwalk are is by far the best location in all of Disney in my opinion.
You are going to love it !!

Re: Boardwalk Inn

Thanks for the info everyone. Now I am debating where to have my 2 dinners. One is definately at Ohana's the other is undecided. I usually go to the Castle for a dinner but it is closed for renovations that week. Suggestions? If you could only go to one place for dinner where would it be? I'm going to ask this question on a new thread.

Re: Boardwalk Inn

The other nice thing about the Boardwalk Inn, is the lounge up on the "second" floor. Nice place to have a drink before dinner (I go up there when waiting for Flying Fish to open).

Try the Cape May Cafe Buffet at the Beach Club Resort across the water from where you'll be. We eat there once every time we go. They call it a clambake buffet, but they have all kinds of meats, veggies and different types of potatoes, but the children have their own section, that is low enough for them to pick out their own favorites, like pizza, chicken fingers, hot dogs, etc.

You'll love it.............take care
