Port Orleans Riverside Room Ideas?

We are going to WDW January 2 through January 7 staying at POR we will have two rooms adjoining (hopefully!) - me, my hubby, my 9 year old daughter, 16 and 19 year old son. I will be calling down there before we arrive to again insist (nicely) on adjoining rooms and a nonsmoking room, any ideas on if I should also suggest a certain building - you all have such good ideas and have been there before - any ideas would be appreciated!!

I would suggest Alligator bayou building 14 or 15, as it is closest to the food court.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the POR rooms in alligator bayou have a trundle bed for your 9 year old, so maybe you wouldn't need that extra room .Our family of 5 stays there for that reason.

We originally had just one room - but my boys may want to stay up later - and they are both big football player boys (would be rather squeezed two in a bed!) - and we got a good deal on adjoining rooms - and we thought two showers - two TV's (if they want to stay up later) - for the extra money we spent we thought we would be much more comfortable!!

You will love POR,the pool is great and there is a lovely boat ride to DTD. With teenagers, the 2 showers is a good idea. I know my DD lives in the shower.

Re: Port Orleans Riverside Room Ideas?

CHJAN, you have picked the most special resort in all of WDW! And I mean it! You should request Alligator Bayou buildings #15 or 16 as they are close to the parking lot. Or #14 if you don't have a car. All these buildings are deeply charming, have trundles, have connecting rooms available and are close to the food court and bus stop! You are going to LOVE your trip! And be sure to have the totally fresh, absolutely incredible POR cinnamon rolls every morning!

Re: Port Orleans Riverside Room Ideas?

CHJAN,

Have you decided for sure that you want to stay in Alligator Bayou section? I stayed in adjoining rooms in the Magnolia Bend section in 2002 and 2003 and had a great experience. The first time we stayed in Magnolia Terrace, Rooms 8708 and 8707. One of the rooms was a corner room, which made it seem even bigger. That time I was with my parents and we stayed in separate rooms because my dad snores louder than a hibernating bear. I spent my entire childhood sleeping on the floor of hotel bathrooms during family vacations to avoid the snoring! When I was old enough to pay for my own room, I did it!!

The second time I stayed in adjoining rooms, we stayed in the Oak Manor building, can't remember what room numbers and I was with 4 of my friends. Having the 2 rooms with 2 bathrooms was definitely a plus for getting 5 twenty-something girls up and out every morning. Having just one bathroom would have really slowed us down. Plus we felt like we had a suite with all that space, it was really nice.

I am sure you will have a great stay whatever building you stay in, POR is a great resort! If you can get one of your rooms to be a corner room though, that is a nice plus.

Karen

Re: Port Orleans Riverside Room Ideas?

Does anyone know if buildilng 14 is non-smoking? And are the building done being renovated over there? I think my kids would love the alligator bayou section best! And closest to the food court would be a must for the teenagers - but concerned about need non-smoking and renovated room!

Re: Port Orleans Riverside Room Ideas?

Sorry chjan, but I have never noticed a smoking room in any resort! I have never even smelled a smoky odor in any room we have ever had! I know you can smoke at the bar in the lobby, though.

We don't want a smoking room! Yuck! I thought some of the buildings at POR were non-smoking so that is what I want for sure! I also have heard the POR is under renovation - does anyone know what buildings are done?
