Wake Up Calls

Just two quick points regarding wake-up calls at the resorts:

I use to get a wake up call in the morning and sometimes it was Mickey, sometimes it was just a plain old wake-up call. I, like a little kid, really wanted to hear Mickey wake me up. Someone suggested to make my wake up call for an odd time like 7:05 or 6:50 and that would help. I tried it this time at OKW and I got Mickey every time!

Also, apparently you can ask to get a wake up call for more than Mickey. My son set up a wake up call one night and the CM asked what character he wanted. I think the choices were Mickey, Donald and Goofy. He picked Goofy and sure enough Goofy woke him up the next morning! I am not sure if this is available everywhere but I say give it a try!!

This isn't an option at the All-Stars. Wake-ups are an automated system where you use your phone to program your wake-up call.

Honestly, it's not a great system. I mean, it's reliable and the phone rings at the desired time. But the call is all static and it's difficult to recognize Mickey's voice.

That may be true but I love it just the same!

I wish I could get Mickey to call me every morning at home. It would make me feel a lot better than a %&*$ buzzer.

Re: Wake Up Calls

I got the cub an alarm clock which plays Disney music (not sure whether it was licensed or some fly-by-night company -- it was on eBay). There's nothing, I mean NOTHING, like "It's a Small World" to get someone out of bed.

Re: Wake Up Calls

I requested a wake up call our first morning wakening at 7:30am and it was !!!
And I could hear him very clear. (I held the phone between my daughter and I )
I also made her answer the phone which was very hard since she is hard to wake in the early am!

Re: Wake Up Calls

We have gotten Mickey every time we have used the system and let me tell you never answer the phone if the kids are with you. I will never live that down answering it and not letting the kids hear Mickey on the other end.

Jeff,
For a small fee I'll call you every morning and do my best Mickey impression.

Jeff:

You should get yourself one of those alarm clock CD players that will play the CD instead of a buzzer. Then you can pop a Disney CD in there and you'll be all set.

When we stay at the All-Stars (or the PC next month) we get two rooms, so the kids get their own phone. So, I get Mickey to wak me up on our phone and Mickey wakes the kids up on theirs.

I'd hit my snooze alarm with a baseball bat if it played Small World!

Re: Wake Up Calls

That was one of the best parts of going to a convention at WDW. What better way to get ready for 8 hours of lecture sessions then having Mickey wake you up!
