adding special touches?

Does anyone ever bring homey touches for thie room? I've been toying with shipping a box of christmas decoration down for our room at BWI. Something like a wreath for the balcony and door and a small tree for the table. Any thoughts? I can hear the laughter, I just love to decorate for the holidays I haven't said a word to DH he'd laugh all the way to the airport.

Re: adding special touches?

the first thing I do when I unpack my bags is load the bathroom area up with my stuff. The vanitry looks like my vanity at home by the time I am down. I also put my special pillow on my designated bed as does my DD. That and hanging my bathrobe on the bathroom door....not decore, but makes me feel at home.

I've heard of people decorating their room before. I thought I read that here. Someone even hung Christmas lights...who was it??

when we were there last year at the beginning of December our next room neighbours hung Christmas llights in their room. It was cute.

Re: adding special touches?

The first year we went at Christmas, we drove and I took a small tree (about 3.5-4 ft) with us. I always take lights when we go over the Christmas holidays and if nothing else, string them around the room. It looks very festive from inside and out and definitely adds a homey touch. Since our bags are usually full, we leave the lights for the Mousekeepers to take home if they want.

My DW and I bring our fresh ground starbucks coffee with us........don't know about this trip as I do not believe there are coffee pots in the Value Resorts.

I love the idea of a string of Christmas lights!....I've added it to my packing list!

Coffe Makers are available by request. I am not certain if there is a charge however. You may be better off getting one of those 5 cups ones and bringing your own.

Re: adding special touches?

I'm not feeling silly anymore. I'm packing the box this weekend and mailing it on Monday. There's just not enough room in the suitcases sincewe are going for 16 days. Keep the ideas coming.

Re: adding special touches?

I've already packed some decorations: some garlands and some holiday scented potpourri for the room. I wasn't sure if the lights would be frowned upon, but now that I know you guys have done it they're going in the suitcase today!

Re: adding special touches?

Instead of shipping, why not stop at Wal-Mart or Walgreen's and get a cheap 5 foot tree , some lights, and a few cheap ornaments, then stop at the Disney Christmas store at DTD for your Disney stuff. You know you're gonna want new Disney ornaments, they have limited release stuff just like Hallmark and there's some really nice sets that are new for this year. Now you'll have fresh lights for next year, and you know you were going to buy new stuff this year anyway. Just a thought.

I agree. It would likely be less expensive to buy some things when you arrive then to have to ship it-you could start some new traditions-choosing ornaments

Re: adding special touches?

They do not charge for the coffee makers, they do however charge for the coffee (I think it is beyond the first pack, I may be wrong, but the first pack is complimetary I believe). I drink tea, though, (and not coffee) and they do not charge for the tea bags as they are on the condiment stands.

BTW we decorated our room for MNSSHP as a surprise for DD last year and even the mousekeeper got into the act and left towel animals that were halloween themed. It was too cute and really added that special extra touch.

"Mousekeeper"? I swear I've never heard that one before. I have to remember that.

Re: adding special touches?

How weird that you never came across the term Mousekeeper. It's a standard. There's even a website that keeps templates for Mousekeeping envelopes. http://www.themouseforless.com/mousekeeping.shtml

Re: adding special touches?

We were there for this past halloween and many people decorated their rooms with skeletons and lights in their windows...we were on the first floor and my girls loved to go by rooms to see what people had out...then they started to put their sleep toys in the windows too...go for it is my advice -- I think it adds to the magic.
