Renew Vows at Poly?

My wife and I are celebrating 10 years of wedding bliss in May 2005 and lo and behold, we are going to be at WDW on the celebrated date. So we were contemplating renewing our vows at WDW, sharing the occasion with our daughters (4 and 6) and our best friends, who will be with us.

We requested information regarding small weddings and such, and we were leaning towards an "Intimate" affair at Sunset Pointe at the Polynesian Resort...anybody have any opinions for/against that location vs our other choices (Sea Breeze @ Boardwalk, Wedding Gazebo @ Yacht/Beach, Sunrise Terrace @ Wilderness Lodge).

Also, does anybody have any tips regarding other "special things" WDW will do for such an occasion? The Wedding planning team hasn't been very helpful so far.

Thanks in Advance.

Wow, that sounds like a romantic thing to do. I have absolutely no advice here for you. Just wanted to say 'go for it'

That is so wonderful... No place more magical to do that than at Disney. Congrats to you and I hope you enjoy many more wonderful years together.

Re: Renew Vows at Poly?

You guys should certainly do a romantic vow renewal at Disney! Absolutely!!!
I really wanted to get married at Sunset Pointe...alas, not enough money...but we've decided to renew our vows at Disney in 10 years, just like it sounds you are going to do! It would be a definite toss-up for us between Sunset Pointe and the Chapel, but I'm leaning toward the Pointe in your case. It would be a small affair for you, and I think that would be the most romantic thing you could do.

As for us, we had a small wedding (4 people in attendance!) so we plan on doing a big shindig for our vow renewal in 10 years...so ours would be a slightly different situation that might be better suited for the chapel! LOL.

For other romantic things to do...how about a fireworks cruise? And ooooh, have you considered a carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside?

Good luck in making your decision, and CONGRATULATIONS in advance on ten years of marriage!! We will be celebrating our first year in May 2005, at the same time as you.

Re: Renew Vows at Poly?

Congrats to you! My two cents is DONT get it done at the Poly. Trust me on this one. I'd consider one of the other locations you mentioned, or even the Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian. That's where I'd renew my vows (is two years of marriage too soon to do this?). Good luck.

Re: Renew Vows at Poly?

While at WDW I have had the fortune to see people (no one I knew) getting married at WL and the Poly. They both look like wonderfull placed to renew vows. The view at the Poly was so awesome!!! We were out on the lake and could see the happy couple from our Sea Racer. It just looked so romantic. I am sure where ever you pick it will be great.

Re: Renew Vows at Poly?

Wow- sounds like us - we are celebrating our 10th on Feb 7th but this celebrates when we eloped, our wedding day was May 13 1995. We will be in WDW for our 10th in Feb and I wanted to do a renewal on the boat since we have so many with us. But My DH doesn't want to. He would be too embarrassed and he doesnt want to spend the money- he would rather do an excursion to Atlantis in Nassau instead. :(
I thought it would be so romantic-

Re: Renew Vows at Poly?

I have never been there- I just figured that since we decided to go to disney instead of a romantic location that it would be nice to do there. I suppose the fact that he wants to go with the kids instead of just us is kind of romantic in its own way.

This sounds familiar. Tenth anniversary, vow renewal, Disney World. Yup. At first I was leaning towards the Deluxe package at the GF, but our anniversary lands on a Saturday next year, and the GF is out. I think the Poly might be a great choice. I'm not fully sold on the Boardwalk yet, other than their dining. Probably should be able to frame the castle in your pics too. The scenary at the WL is nice and I bet they can shoot Old Faithful as you say "I do". I'm also leaning away from the GF because whatever we do, we won't have a large crowd, and don't need all the seating in the wedding pavilion. I'm not sure what plans you want to make, but there's always his and hers spa treatments, a family cruise on Seven Seas Lagoon, dinner at Victoria and Albert's Chef's Table? Trust me, if you want to do it, there's some over performing CM who can make it happen.

13 is my lucky number now...we picked it out of the blue! It's called "parents who won't let you plan your own wedding, so you finally get irritated and tell them, 'we're getting married May 13th! Deal with it!'" LOL.

Re: Renew Vows at Poly?

Thanks everybody for the suggestions.

Soundgod - The thought behind the Poly was exactly what you referred to...having the Castle visible, possibly having it in the background for pictures. One thing I've learned with two daughters...Never underestimate the power of the castle.

Dinner at Victoria and Albert's scares me with my daughters. I'm thinking about doing something a little less formal...following my mantra above, we were thinking about having dinner afterwards at the Castle, not necessarily because of the cuisine, but the whole atmosphere thing. Especially with my two daughters. I'm wondering how to find an over performing cast member to get us a special look at "Wishes" (at least away from the throngs of people on Main Street!) Over-performers don't appear to be working in the Wedding Planning dept, at least not for small affairs!
