New Tickets Affect Resort Prices?

Does anyone know if the new Magic Your Way ticketing scheme will affect resort prices? They are talking about new packages that include rooms, just wondering if this will be a better deal than the Dream Maker or what?

Re: New Tickets Affect Resort Prices?

The new packages will be less expensive than the current Dream Maker packages, unless you are only staying a couple of nights, then it might be about the same, depending upon which ticket you choose. I don't see the new packages changing room rates though. However, my first thought when I saw this yesterday was that this may signal the end of significant discounts on the rooms. We may still see AP and FL resident deals, but with room vacancy being very low this year, it wouldn't surprise me if general public discounts were reduced this year, and be gone completely by 2006.

That doesn't make sense to me, Mickey. If ressies are low, wouldn't they lower the room rates to try and fill up the resorts??

Re: New Tickets Affect Resort Prices?

he said "vacancy is low", not "reservations are low"...meaning lots of people are staying at the resorts, leaving little vacancy. Reservations must be high. Which is unfortunate because i want those rates to stay low, or have a lots of discounts too!!

Room occupancy has been very high during most of the year. I have heard from several higher-ups in Disney personally that they intend to end discounts at some time, they just need to get it to a point that people will pay the full price on the rooms. It was that way for a long time, prior to just before 9/11, and my guess is by the end of next year, it will be back to that point.

OK I have to throw my 2 cents on that one. I personally do not think that anyone will ever again pay full price for rooms. Look at Wal-Mart in the past week. Their sales were down because they did not give out the same deep discounts that their competitors did. I think that if Disney needs to lower room rates or this will force a lot of us to off-site.

If they stop the discounts, then that will be the end of my staying so much on-site.

I bet they won't stop for FL. residents, Mickaholic. They need us to come on site in the off season :c)

Re: New Tickets Affect Resort Prices?

What about AP discounts? Will those cease to be a benefit? If so, I'm in real trouble! Not sure I could afford the style of trip I am accustomed to without the discount. Sure will be a big change from staying at WL to have to stay at the All Stars!
