Re: Shades of Green
I stayed at SoG this past summer and it was very nice. You just can't beat the price for the type of room. The transportation was very good, the busses were always on time and never too full. My only concern was having to go through the Ticket and Transportation Center to get to and from the Magic Kingdom. If we were not with our disabled vet friend we would take the resort monorail to the Poly and walk across the street to SoG. It is about a 10-15 minute walk.
Here is my trip report from last summer. We moved to SoG on day two. http://www.disneycentral.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=11122

Re: Shades of Green
I have not stayed there since it became SoG, but stayed there when it was the Disney Inn.
I loved it there, the rooms are HUGE compared to the room sizes at the moderate resorts at Disney. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. You can see pictures and get more information at http://www.allearsnet.com

Re: Shades of Green
We just came back from there (need to update my sig...). It is like a Disney Deluxe Resort now. The lobby is spacious and well themed as is the whole resort. It's closest to Disneyland's Grand Californian -- kinda a cross between DAKL and Wilderness Lodge (more Wilderness Lodge, but Quaker/Shaker-esq. decor than camping look). The rooms are larger than any of the Disney deluxe resorts we've been in. There is an indoor and outdoor water fall. There's a food court near the bus stop. We didn't take the SOG bus, but it always seemed to be on the road when we were, lol! There's even a children's area w/ a tv playing Disney cartoons in the lobby like at the other Disney hotels. The parking garage is covered and connected to the building (at least the section we were in). There's a sit down restaurant there too; actually, I think there might be two -- we didn't have a chance to eat at either though. It definitely did NOT feel like staying at the holiday inn or any other non-Disney hotel. Could very easily have been a Disney one (although no Mickeys on the soap and stuff :) ). Can't think of what else to tell you, other than not to worry! :) Doesn't feel military or sparatan or anything like that; feels very much like a deluxe Disney hotel.

Re: Shades of Green
We just got back yesterday and Sog was great. For Christmas everything is beautiful. The rooms are huge. We had a party of 10 in 3 rooms. Two were adjoining and the other right next door. All rooms have either a private balcony (with two chairs and enough room to have coffee and breakfast) or a poolside walk out. Bathrooms have double sinks and a seperate room for toilet/bath/shower. Two large queen beds and a pull out twin convertable, plus breakfast table 4 chairs, enterainment armoire, a double dresser, closet, ironing board, safe, refrigerator in every room free of charge, and coffee pot. Two pool areas: one has large pool with toddlers pool and play gym right next to it. At this pool area there is also a sports pub/family cheap eats kind of place. This is where the guys will have to go to see any major sports event...(we are from Boston and the family had to watch the Patriots play on Sunday so we all went down there while the kids swam in the pool right outside the glass windows ***very convenient). As for other restaurants....there is a buffet every night for 12.95 down at the galley ( a sit down service restuarant...you can also order from the menu ). There is also Mangino's a really nice...top quality chef italian restaurant. Between these three you can find everything you need and the prices are cheaper than at other disney resorts.
As far as transportation...they actually have golf carts running 8-5 that will bring you down the driveway and than you just walk across polynesian parking lot to get to monorail...very easy and no ticket and transportation hassle. The shuttle busses come every 15-30 minutes and are never crowded always on time...again very easy. We even had a scooter and they got us on and off real quick and easy. We had a great time and for 100/night it is an unbelievable bargain. I would highly recommend it. It is not a hub of excitement though...so if you need the hotel to be a source of entertainment (beyond a 'basic' pool and playground for kids) than maybe some place like the holiday inn familysuites would be good. We stayed there in February and although you give up being on site...you have an arcade, video rentals, really fun pool, decorated/themed rooms (alhough a lot smaller than SoG), face painting and hair salon for kids, etc. I hope this helped. let me know if you have any more questions i would love to help.
