End of AP Codes?

I just read on on another forum that after the current codes expire that WDW will no longer offer any kind of codes for room discounts. A lady wrote that her brother had went to some kind of training for the new Magic Your Way Passes and he specifically asked that question. He was emphatically told that after the current codes expire WDW will not be offering any kind of room discount codes (AP or anyone codes either) in the future. This sucks as I just bought an AP planning to use it four times this year for room discounts. It seems like they're really pushing the new passes. You might as well buy the new 10 day pass with no expiry if you can't use an AP for room discounts. Right? At least I got to use my AP for room discounts for my Jan trip, but I sure don't want to pay rack rate for the other trips.

Re: End of AP Codes?

I sure hope that's not the case!! One of the reasons we bought the AP was the room discount! UGH!

Re: End of AP Codes?

EEEGAAAD!
No more AP Rates, that will take all the fun out of making ressies. It's a challenge, and we know how proud we are for "achiving" all our discounts. We need a Trophy wall for some of the grrreat catches we've landed.
Besides that...OUCH...pay the normal prices!!

Will this do away with FL resident rates, as well??

That would really stink.

Oh that would stink too! I hope that Disney keeps the knowledge that there many many people that visit so often, mainly do to these discounts. I know personally, if we save another $500 of the rooms, usually that money still ends up in the Disney Vault for momentos. OOOHHH SOOOOO CORPORATE of them!

Re: End of AP Codes?

They could do something like Universal does with their APs. Just set a standard discount for AP holders and Florida residents. Just something like a blanket 10% or 20% based upon the season. If they want to make things easier, this would do it.

Re: End of AP Codes?

Hmm, I went to the same training, and the same questions was asked. The response that we got was the same as it has been for years. Disney will continue to moniter the economic situation and discounts will be released as warranted. While it would be Disney's ideal situation to have every to pay full price, that won't happen for a while. Don't be surprised if general public discounts start to disappear, but I would expect AP rates to continue for a little while.

Re: End of AP Codes?

Oooh, that would be devastating to me! If Disney stops offering discount codes, I am not going to be able to stay on-site anymore. And if I can't stay on-site, I can't go AT ALL anymore...because I'm not old enough to rent a car, and I couldn't get anywhere!

Re: End of AP Codes?

The room discounts are the principal reason that I got the APs to begin with.

I would make SUCH a STINK if there were no discounts next year.

Re: End of AP Codes?

I have never gotten a discount! They don't give breaks on the Dream Makers, do they?

Re: End of AP Codes?

Mmmm...I don't think they do breaks on the packages. But the room discounts can be AWESOME! Sometimes as deep as 45% or so. I will be SO ANGRY if they take them away. Because like I said, that's the only reason I can GO to WDW at all!

Re: End of AP Codes?

They don't discount the packages very often. Occasionally they have a stay 5 and get tweo day free deal. With the visa card I got a stay 4 and get 3 free last year that was awesome. With the AP you can get a fantastic discount on rooms and then buy your tickets seperately which is the least expensive way to do it.
