Front of the Monorail
How do you get to ride in the front of the monorail? It sounds pretty neat. I'm going with my parents in two weeks and I think this is something we would all enjoy.

Re: Front of the Monorail
Go to the very front of the monorail boarding area and ask the monorail pilot. There might be a line.
Well worth it. If you have wee ones ask if they have monorail pilot wings (or what ever they are called).

Re: Front of the Monorail
FYI- they only allow four people in the front car at a time. This includes children of all ages. We tried to get on with a baby and he counted!!!!

I'm so glad to hear that! I was able to ride the monorail up front when I was a kid ~ we're talking almost 25 years ago, and I still remember it ~ so, I would definately say it's worth trying to get up front! Jen

Re: Front of the Monorail
All you have to do is ask. Only 4 are allowed. My kids got official driver liscences once, but I don't know if they all do that because the last time we went they weren't given them.

Re: Front of the Monorail
It is the monorail Co-pilot's license. My DD got one last year and one from the bus driver as well. This year she got one from the train engineers, so now all she needs for a complete set of all the disney transport systems is one from a riverboat captain and she is set.
We don't consider a trip to WDW complete without at least one trip in the front of the monorail. I have done this ever since I was a little girl and it is the greatest thing. It has become a tradition in our family and am willing to wait through several monorails in order to be seated at the front. To me and my family, it is well worth the wait. It is so much different than riding in the back and talking to the drivers, you will always find out little tidbits about WDW, it is so great.

Re: Front of the Monorail
I've ridden up front with DW on our Honeymoon as well as with the kids back in 2003. But we haven't been fortunate the last 2 trips. Someone always beats us and we haven't been willing to wait for the next train.
But it's definately worth it, especially if the driver is in a talkative mood. You can learn a lot about Disney "behind the scenes" from monorail drivers.

Re: Front of the Monorail
It is very fun. I ask everytime I'm at Disney.

Re: Front of the Monorail
The last time my DW and rode up front it was with a family of 4 (total 6 passengers) so maybe it up to the pilot?

Re: Front of the Monorail
I've never gotten my co-pilot's license. I'm not sure if anyone else has said this, but, when you get to the station, ask the station masters. They will then direct you to the queue area for the front of the car. You might not get to ride the next train because there might be people waiting, or the car is already occupied. It's the station master that sets it up with the monorail engineer (pilot?).

Re: Front of the Monorail
Your best bet for this is to try it from the transportation center or leaving Magic Kingdom and be at the front and mention to the guy you'd love to be able to sit up front JUST THIS ONE TIME IN YOUR LIFE... PLEASE JERRY... PLEASE!

Re: Front of the Monorail
We usually do this late morning before anyone is leaving the park and we don't have to wait for another train. Just ask!
