Annual Pass "rumor"

OK, good news for Annual Passholders. Starting sometime right after January 2, 2005, Disney will be announcing a new program for Annual Passholders. Rather than discounts being released throughout the year, Disney will offer AP room only discounts for the entire year. The discounts will be percentage based, similar to the current AAA discounts. So, during value season, the discounts may be as high as 30% off, and during holiday season, it may be only 10% off. The actual discount rates have not yet been announced, but should be shortly.

The good news is that AP discounts will continue on for a couple of years at least, and that you can plan well ahead of time, and know you are getting the AP discounts. The bad news is of course that the discounts are not as much as they have been in the past.

Also look for some clarification on whether AP holders will be able to book the new packages along with their rooms when this is announced.

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

Glad to hear that discounts will continue. When and if they decide not to do them anymore, it will be interesting to see what happens to the numbers of AP holders. I don't think I would buy one without the hotel discounts. I hope the discounts are still decent or else my days at the WL are over!

I think you are right jodilt!! I bet they will have a down-slide of AP holders if they do away with it. It would limit us also as to where we could stay and for how long.

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

Glad that APers will still get the discount. I already got my money's worth this trip, but it will be a nice "topper" to get a discount for my Ocotber trip. Hopefully they will have a meal deal or something of the like we can add on. It will be nice to pay that off in advance too. Can't wait to hear their announcement.

I think a lot of people buy the AP's in hopes of good hotel discounts. Lets keep our fingers crossed, that they keep it up.

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

keep me posted on this! I would love to be able to add the meal package on to my room reservation with my AP discount. Not a care in the world on my trip! Everything would be taken care of up front..how nice!! I think a "standard" ap discount is a fine idea too. That way you can have a better way to plan...it's more reliabe if you know that every value season, you save X %, so you can plan your vacations more ahead of time

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

That would be great!! I also hope that I will be able to purchase the meal plan when I go during spring break. I also want to admit that I was very scared to view this topic, because I thought for a minute that they were going to do away with free parking or the passes altogether!!

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

The main reason why we get annual passses are the room discounts, but with the new packages I was really questioning its worth. I would be interested in adding on the meal plan if it was available. There has to be some advantage to owning an AP, or else why have one?

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

I think with me spending 14 days in WDW this year, I am still ahead of the game so I don't feel like I am losing out on admisssion with the AP. However, with the AP discounts I received on the AKL and the Polynesian, I am definately ahead by far. I don't know if I would reup my AP or not. I like that I am getting a discount and "all ready paid for" admission for my October trip. The meal plan is a bonus if they add that. The trip will be almost all inclusive for me.,..kind like my January one with the vouchers, but cheaper.

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

Will this affect Florida Resident Seasonal Passes as well? The discounts are usually the same as AP discounts.

I know that we definately came out ahead getting the AP rates. Now, just waiting patiently for the rates to come out for May. JOANN

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

I do think it would be a good idea to make a package where we can get a meal plan or something eventhough we already have our AP's.

Re: Annual Pass "rumor"

Oooh, that's good news. DH and I are probably not going to buy APs for this trip, but we plan on saving enough money to buy APs if we end up going on another trip this year.
