Moderate or Value

I am trying to decide which resort to book for our next trip in Dec. I've never stayed at a moderate resort and am thinking about it this time around. Do you think it's worth the money to book a moderate resort when you spend so little time in your room. I need help making my decision!!!!

Re: Moderate or Value

Here's my take on it. If you don't spend a lot of time at your resort or in your room, then stay at a value. Why pay extra money for something you aren't going to actually use right? The only thing that would make me go to a moderate in this situation is the amount of people that will be in your room. I found the value to be comfortable for me and my DD. I was claustrophobic the one year my mother was also staying in the value room with us. I wouldn't be able to deal with four in that tiny room, but I have serious claustrophobia. If you have more than three, I would definately pay the extra and go to the moderate jsut for size and space, but again, this is just my opinion.

Re: Moderate or Value

How much bigger would you say the room is in a moderate? From the pictures on allearsnet.com I couldn't really see much difference.

I guess my thought is that I've stayed at ASMo the past three visits and I want to treat my family to a little more and see what else is out there. But only if it's worth it. If they won't notice the difference, than I'm not sure I should do it.

Here's my two cents. Values are a great place to sleep. The main differences are 1)a bit of size, 2)a sit down restaurant in addition to the food court, and 3) the theming. The theming in the moderates is more adult oriented, not oversize colorful things meant for the little ones. But the little ones can enjoy it just as much. We stayed at CSR when ours were not quite 6 and 8, and they had a blast.

If you can swing it, I'd say go for the moderate, or at least, if you choose a value this time around, resort hop and take a look at some of them. I was wishing I could afford POR this time, but we're taking PC instead. After all, a bed is a bed, and we'll still be in Disney!

The Values run 260 sq feet per room. The moderates are 314 sq feet. The Deluxe range from 344 sq feet and up. To be honest, I didn't notice much of a difference between CSR and AKL, even though there was a 30 sq foot difference.

AS = 260 square feet
CBR = 340 square feet
All other moderates are 314 square foot.

So if you go to CBR, you are getting a way bigger room. If that isn't important to you, than no worries. I just gave you my preference. I just hate small rooms. I also spend a lot of time at my resort so it's kinda like apples and oranges. Just trying to help.

No problem at all. Glad I could help you. You have to tailor these trips to do what works best for your family. If I were a serious park commando, I wouldn't care where I stayed..lol I like to loaf around mid-day and enjoy my resort.

Re: Moderate or Value

OK here is my 2 cents on the whole thing. If I am going to spend the money for the upgrade then I want my money's worth that is the reason that I choose POFQ this trip. POFQ is small in size, and has a boat directly to DTD. Those are the reasons that I choose POFQ.

I would not choose CBR simply because it is so large. I like the smaller resort, so I paid the extra money for it, and it hopefully will be completely worth it to me.

If I was going to go with a mod, that would be my choice even though CBR rooms are bigger. Besides the resort being simply gorgeous, I like the smallness and he access to DTD.

And the entire thing was just rehabbed so technically it is the newest resort in WDW.

Re: Moderate or Value

Well let me be honest, PC is the only Disney resort that I remember staying in; I was too little to remember the rest.

I would go with POFQ over PC simply because it is smaller, and I like the theming slightly more. PC is a GREAT resort, and was specifically designed to be large however all the rooms are still very close to Classic Hall. I will do a quick rundown of the +'s and -'s to each resort.

POFQ
+Themed Pool w/ slide
+Smaller
+1st Stop comming back from parks
+Direct launch to DTD
-Many stops at POR before heading to the parks
-You have to go to POR for a sit-down resturaunt

PC
+Good Value
+Good Theme
+Despite its size, you are never more than a 5 minute walk from Classic Hall
-Smaller Rooms
-No Slide at the Pool
-Only Bus service to everywhere

In the end... it equals out. I wanted something different this trip so we headed for POFQ.
