Door number 1 or Door number 2?

Okay, time to get back on the subject of DISNEY...thanks to those stupid VIs (ka-ching...another TM profit for rlander), things are getting very un-DC at the moment.

So I had orginally planned our anniversary trip for May 10th-21st. But now I'm thinking about the timing, and wondering if going earlier...say May 5th-16th?...might be better? The difference is probably miniscule, but I'm looking at it this way:

On one side, I have Spring Break crowds. On the other side, I have summer crowds. Would it be best to hit the HCOE the day it starts?

Another dznygrl over-planning thread...you're probably all rolling your eyes. But hey, it's just me. Heck...it's almost my TRADEMARK! LOL.

Kim, if you go on the 5th, you may get to see some really cool "opening day" stuff and maybe a LE pin or two that is only offered that day. I would think the spring breakers would be back in school the first of may. On the second hand, you could go toward the end of May and get to see me!! hehehehe!

You make some good points Heather! I never thought of them doing anything special on opening day. I would think Spring Breakers would be back in school by then, too...just wasn't sure.

As for going later...darn it, if you were going only a couple days earlier it would work! All I care about is, we have to be there on the 13th for our anniversary. And somehow, I don't think I can afford a trip that stretches quite long enough to see you... But you're gonna keep bringin' it up, huh?? Ehhhhrrr! (That's my sad animal whine.)

We DID just miss each other last time, didn't we? I completely forgot about that!!

Ryan IS going to love WDW...we didn't think we would be able to afford a trip there for our anniversary, but I decided we had to make it happen. I started up an eBay business just for that purpose, and I'm working SO HARD because I know it will be worth every second!

And yeah, time sure flies! It doesn't even feel like we're married. We're just best friends who are with each other all the time...sometimes I have to stop and realize that the last time I went to WDW, I had just started dating him and I called him from All-Star Movies every night! LOL.

Summer crowds are definately rough. But here in Northwest FL Spring Break is around the 3rd week of March. It should be somewhere near that for the rest of FL, I assume. Double check that just in case.

So if Spring Break is as early as it seems, I'm thinking maybe going earlier in May *would* be good? Because I know some schools get out for summer break earlier than others, and June isn't necessarily the standard. I imagine a lot of college kids might head out in late May?

I'm also very tempted just to be at HCOE on the opening day, for the heck of it.

Re: Door number 1 or Door number 2?

We get out of college here around May 17. Public schools usually follow the next week. It differs by county, so maybe one of the South FL people could help with that. I would assume it would be late May for them?

ETA: I tend to prefer early May. The weather usually isn't TOO bad.

What is HCOE? I know that Lights, Cars, and Action is opening on May 5, 2005 (5/5/05). I assume tha is what you guys are talking about.

I think by May you will be outside of the Spring break crowds. They usually come March and April, so thats not really a problem.

Re: Door number 1 or Door number 2?

Sorry disneyguy...I always fail to explain...HCOE stands for "Happiest Celebration on Earth". It officially starts at Disney parks on May 5th, so...DH and I were going to be at DLR (so we thought) but we had to move, so we don't work there anymore. That's one reason I'd like to be at a Disney park for the opening day.

Kippage, I think you may have just made my decision for me. Early May might be the best decision. Hmmm...what do you mean by the weather isn't "TOO" bad?

Re: Door number 1 or Door number 2?

Ha, May is whole lot better than July. July is like 90+ weather. May can vary, but is usually nice. Basically, it's not really too hot or muggy/sticky/sweaty. Nice balance.

That's good to hear! Like I've mentioned in other threads, I LOVE the heat. It doesn't bother me...I was born cold, so I welcome any heat I can get! Haha. Needless to say, I'm thankful for the upswing in temperature we had up here recently--went from about 0 degrees up to the 40's! 40 seems like t-shirt weather when it's been that cold for so long.

But DH was born and raised right here in Alaska, and he (unlike me) was born quite warm and cozy. Both of us are very seriously considering moving to the Orlando area, so I'm hoping the weather in May will be "hot" by DH's standards, but "moderate" by other peoples' standards. I don't want him to get scared away on our first visit!
