Icon6 Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

Sorry, but Momma always said "The only dumb question is the one not asked." So here goes...

On the "Refillable Mugs" that I have been reading about. Are there refill stations located thoughout the resort? (I.e. Like Ice Machines and Soda Machines in your Holiday Inn's on every floor) or Do you have to go to Everything Pop everytime you want a refill?

Thank you for you help and understanding with this WDW Resort Rookie. (In the Wilderness Cabin's I stocked them with Soda for the Kids and Beer and Wine for the "BIG" Kids.

Re: Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

You have to go to "Everything Pop", but the way PC is laid out, you'll never be more than a short walk away.

Each morning, I'd go down and get DW and I coffee while she was in the shower and hot chocolate for the kids. It was quite convenient.

Yes, you can do that, but won't the Diet Coke be flat? My advice about visiting Everything Pop is to go before 8:30AM and after 9PM.

Re: Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

We use the mugs on some trips and other times it just isn't worthwhile for us. Like when we stay at Old Key West and the hospitality house is not within' walking distance, we don't use them. But, one trip we stayed at OKW, we drove over to Port Orleans each night for a swim and snack, so we saved quite a bit of money using the mugs there. Wilderness Lodge, used them all the time (on the way down to the pool each night). All Stars, used them the first few trips, but found it was too much hassle (see below:)

Also, keep in mind you'll be going back and forth a lot for refills. Two examples: We get up, get ready, head down to breakfast at the food court, after we are done we have two choices....walk back to your room while the rest of the gang wait for you so you can take the mugs back, or lug them around with you all day (don't recommend this). Then when you get back in the evening, you have to go all the way back to your room and then back to the food court, and then back to your room again. Example 2) you get up in the morning, and go down to the food court while the rest of your gang is getting ready, fill the mugs for everyone, and then go back to the room with the drinks. Then you have to do the same thing at the end of the day if you want drinks then.

If you have a town car or a rent car, do a grocery stop on the way to the resort and buy a few 12 packs and disposable cups and keep them in your room....just use the ice machine near the vending areas to cool down the drinks. The mugs are up to $12 each (I think??). A couple questions to ask yourself is, if there are 4 of you, do you really see yourself drinking $48 worth of soda over the length of your trip? Do you plan on eating several meals at your resort? or are you planning on the resort just for sleep and showers?

Re: Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

Actually, we didn't have a problem taking them with us most days. We simply packed them in a backpack that we ended up checking into a locker when we got to the park.

No biggie really.

We would bring ours to the park to carry any leftover soda from meals. It was easier carrying a mug with a handle than a paper cup.

I have also heard people say that they take them to the parks, and then grab a soda on the way back to their room.

Re: Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

I guess we carry wayyyyyy too much stuff with us in the parks! lol! My backpack is always FULL...and so is the bottom of the stroller...

This next trip we are "downsizing" to a hands free trip. We'll each have a fanny pack, and hopefully...that's it!! Yay!

By the way, how much does it cost each day to rent a locker?

Re: Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

if you have a car you can do what we did---we didnt use our car the entire time at wdw so we left it in the "check in parking" at PC...shh i dont think your supposed to do that..and every morning when after breakfast and before hopping on the bus we dumped them in the car...then when we came home for the day we went and got them filled em up and walked back to the room........then the next morning when we woke up we had them with us for breakfast...see the cycle...we were probaly in the farthest room from everything pop so it was annoying espically after a long day at the parks.. to walk back and forth...but a lot of people dont drive so it wont work for them huh

Re: Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

Wow... choices choices choices... I like the buy drinks at store. This is what we did when we stayed at Fort Wilderness Cabins. I also like the sneaky park car in Check in lot too... Hmmm... The more I think about it... You can get a case of Diet Coke @ Sam's (I read there is one close to WDW) for $6.00. At $12.00 each for the refills, that's 4 cases of Diet Coke... I think that is the option we will take... I also have a soft case inslated cooler bag. We can pack it in our suitcase and keep iced down drinks in it.

Thank you all for helping make up my mind... LOL

Re: Pop Century & Refill Mug Help Please.

we have done both ..bought the drinks at home and took them ..plus bought mugs .. but I buy mugs more for keepsakes then the refills .. that does not mean we do not refill them ..btw .. teenagers make great *go getters* ..if you are luck enough to have one, when you get off the bus ..send one to the room to get the mugs *grin*
