Icon5 Booking advice for Fort Wilderness Cabins?

We're planning our 5th "The Kids Are Grown and This Is Probably The Last Vacation We'll Have Together At Disney" stay for mid-October. I'll be booking our Fort Wilderness Cabin for 5 adults (yeah, they left but they keep coming back for vacations ). Anyone know about any chances for discounts on the cabins? Even at full price, we'll book there. We stayed at the cabins one time and loved them. The AKL tempted us, but we do like having our own space! Loved the thread about dinner at the Rose and Crown (one of our favorite eating places) for Illuminations - will definitely give that a shot! Also, anyone have experience with any backstage tours? I'm hoping to do a few this time.

Really enjoying this site - glad it was shown to me!

Welcome to DC!!!!
We have thought about staying at Ft. Wilderness Cabins but Haven't yet. Well I stayed there back in the 70's when they had Wilderness trailers. We enjoyed that.
You might check with Mousektrips for any deals. They are a sponsor here and owned by our moderator Mickey.
As for backstage tours...We have done the one with the Steam Trains at MK. It was really good.

Re: Booking advice for Fort Wilderness Cabins?

There are good discounts sometimes. Right now I think with an AP discount the cabins are around $150. Looks good to me!!!

Re: Booking advice for Fort Wilderness Cabins?

I just called for a ressie for a cabin for the first week of Feb. and they said they were all sold out of the AP DISCOUNTS. Any knowledge of how to get around this "sold out" clause???
thanks

The best bet IMO is to call Cent Reservations the day the discounts are let out. The next thing I would do if I just wanted to make a last min trip (which I have) is to book whaever else I would find OK, if they dont have what I want (back up plan). Then I keep calling every day to see if someone else cancelled for my first choice. I think Mickaholic said at 5 days before your trip is the best time b/c thats the cut off for a refund, so someone might cancel and you could get their spot. Good luck!!!
