Re: Should 1st anniversary be worth fairy tale treatment?

OMG, you are all soooooo mistaken about the Johnny issue!! You see, I KNOW he loves me...it's the way he talks, the way he walks, the way he smiles...*swoon*...it's all for me! (DH is rolling his eyes--but he can't say anything, because he is OBSESSED with Jennifer Garner! So we're even! )

You all have me completely confused again, I'm sorry to say! LOL. Every one of your suggestions has been reasonable and appropriate in some way or another, and now I've got this whole pros/cons list going in my head. (I hadn't even MENTIONED Boardwalk, even though I was considering it as a choice, too. Then y'all had to go and bring it up anyway! )

So let's try to seperate the resorts here. I'm going to write out a physical pro and con list here at home, so that I can stare at it for hours on end...haha.

Rate each resort (based on your personal opinion) on a scale of 0-5 stars for each of the following factors, and then add any special features that are semi-unique to this resort:

GRAND FLORIDIAN
Romance:
Convenience:
Value:
Special Features?:

WILDERNESS LODGE
Romance:
Convenience:
Value:
Special Features?:

YACHT/BEACH CLUBS
Romance:
Convenience:
Value:
Special Features?:

BOARDWALK INN
Romance:
Convenience:
Value:
Special Features?:

On another note...I have read in multiple places, but I don't know if it's true...families tend to go more for the Beach Club versus the Yacht? I have heard that the Yacht Club usually attracts more couples or more...um, well-mannered families. Is there ANY truth to that?

Re: Should 1st anniversary be worth fairy tale treatment?

I've stayed at three of your five, with plans for the other two in the future. If you really want a castle view, you should book into the Contemporary tower and if you can, the 12th floor, making sure you stress it's your anniversary when you request being on the Magic Kingdom, or west, side. Romance is where you make and find it, not so much the resort building itself. Wilderness is nice, a little off the beaten trail. Yacht/Beach and Boardwalk all have you in the Epcot resort area, and you can read what I've said about that in many other threads. It still comes down to price, location, activities, dining when choosing your resort.
And the answer to your original question is yes. Any trip is worth the fairy tale treatment if you so desire.

Re: Should 1st anniversary be worth fairy tale treatment?

Thank you soundgod, I really appreciate the input. I am definitely starting to feel that "any trip is worth the fairy tale treatment"...and epsecially our first anniversary.

I think that's why I started straying from WL a little bit...it is PERFECT for any other trip because I know we would love it there, but I feel like our anniversary is worth something EXTRA special. Just that extra little bit of magic...

One thing I'm trying to factor in is a less-trafficked, more peaceful resort. I know WL is very popular with families, and I hear the pool area is often REALLY crowded. GF and CR are both on the monorail, which makes my "less-trafficked factor" cringe just a little. YC/BC are obviously going to be very popular simply for Stormalong Bay, but at least they are not on the monorail...BoardWalk I really know nothing about?

I'm just trying to talk this out aloud, so anyone can feel free to jump in with any comments at any time!

Maybe you can stay at a resort that is between WL and GF in price and use the money you save from not staying at the GF to do things to pamper yourself and DH...like spa treatments and whatever other special or romantic offerings disney has.

Good idea missyfoo...that's another one of the things I have been contemplating. It would be nice to do special things like maybe a couples massage, renting a boat for the afternoon, etc. Hmmmm more to think about!
