Should 1st anniversary be worth fairy tale treatment?

Thus far, you guys have been a big help planning our trip to WDW in May...it will be our 1st anniversary, and DH's first trip to WDW ever.

My most recent plans have been the first 4 nights of our trip (including our anniversary) spent at Wilderness Lodge, with the rest spent at Pop Century. But I am the epitomy of indecisive people. I love to change my mind way too much. I am 99.9% settled on the WL/PC plan, because I think it fits our personalities and budget very well. However, I just spent some time reading resort reviews on allearsnet.com (bad idea in my case...always starts to influence my decision.) DH and I really wanted to get married in WDW, but when time & budget didn't allow for it, we did a quick wedding near DLR and decided to renew our vows at WDW on our 10th anniversary instead.

I'm just wondering what other people's opinions are...since the 1st anniversary is so special, and we missed out on getting our WDW wedding, I'm wondering if I should splurge and get a room at the GF with a view of the castle for those firs 4 nights, instead of WL? I just can't even imagine how magical it would be, and would add something so special to our anniversary.

True, it's a big budget difference, but in all reality this trip is kind of riding on whether or not DH's real estate deals go through before May. If they do, budget becomes a lot less of an issue. If they don't...well, we may be spending a short week at Pop Century if we're lucky. Assuming everything goes as planned, I could actually afford GF for the first time in my life, just in time for our anniversary!

It's kind of my goal NOT to change my mind a lot in planning this trip--I want to decide something and stick to it--but on the other hand DH doesn't know what "special resort" I'm planning for our anniversary, and he'll be thrilled with anything. He'll never know if I change my mind a lot, either. LOL. My inner Princess is leaning toward the royal treatment at the GF all of a sudden, but I just don't know!!! Everything at WDW is so magical, I'm sure we'll have a fantastic anniversary no matter where we are...but I figured I'd ask what you guys think anyway?

I agree, if you can afford the GF, then stay there there if that is a dream of yours.

If you can afford it do it. Now is the time b/c you never know what the future holds budget wise and your next trip might just have to be at PC for the entire week.

You are so right - it will be great no matter where you stay.
But if you can make GF work... DO IT!!! Let your inner princess be your guide!!

Re: Should 1st anniversary be worth fairy tale treatment?

Thanks for the opinions guys. I was also toying with Yacht Club or Beach Club--anything that is a little more elegant than WL? I know DH would flip over Stormalong Bay & having a character breakfast right there at Cape May Cafe every morning...we'd probably go every morning. (What can I say, I married a kid at heart! )
Any opinions on YC/BC?

Ohhhh Stormalong Bay... now I'm torn. Either would be great - from what you've said, you'd have a lot of fun at either one. Me personally, I think I'd go with GF for the castle view... that's 100% fairy tale to me! But Y&BC would be awesome if you'll do a lot of swimming and stuff around the hotel.

I think I would go to the BC over the GF because of the pool.

Cinderbella, half the time when I see a picture of Johnny Depp that isn't identified as such,I think it's a picture of kd lang, the Canadian country singer!!!

Re: Should 1st anniversary be worth fairy tale treatment?

Kim -
Honestly, I would go to the Boardwalk or the YC/BC. The GF is gorgeous, but I feel like I shouldn't touch anyting while I am there. It's to fancy for me even though I'd love to stay there just to experience it.

Cinderbella -
I am with you...Johnny is hot. Oh and I think you guys are confused, because he loves me.

Re: Should 1st anniversary be worth fairy tale treatment?

Kim, if it were me (and I know it's not!) I would stay at the Wilderness Lodge for the first TWO nights (anniversary night and one additional night) and then move over to All Stars Movies (more Disney themed than Pop) and use all my extra hard earned money on souvineers or nicer meals!!

Tour the other resorts, eat at a few, and day dream about which hotel to stay at next time.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT Avatar....too bad he loves me more!! lol!!
