Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

Well we have decided to do our 1st night at a different resort due to the pricing difference on the seasons for that night.

Now to decide where to stay!

We can't decide between Beach/Yacht Club and Boardwalk. Both are in the same area and have neat pools. I'm thinking Boardwalk because of the nighttime activities but I have never really heard anything about their rooms.

Can anyone offer any opinions on these resorts?

TIA

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

I have never been to any of these BUT I really want to stay at Boardwalk b/c of the nightlife. Beach/Yacht clubs seem stuffier. So my vote is Boardwalk.

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

I prefer the Yacht Club, my DW and DD prefer the Beach Club. Remember it only takes a minute to walk to the Boardwalk, the Swan, or the Dolphin from the Y&BC. There was a bar called the Copa Bannana at either the Swan or Dolphin that had great dance music. And of course there is Jelly Rolls for adult fun.

Enjoy,

If you like pools, then you should stay at Y/BC,because Stormalong bay is the best pool on Disney property.

I've stayed at the BC, but would pick the Boardwalk if it was for one night. Manily cause of the night-life there

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

I'm still debating between these 3 resorts as well, for our anniversary...they're all pretty tempting.

I have visited the BoardWalk, though, and so my suggestion will be BoardWalk. If you're only going to spend one night, I think you would have a great time at BWI. There's probably a little more to offer there for a one-night stay, versus YC/BC.

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

I have stayed at all of them, and honestly, I think I would go for Beach Club. Not a big difference between YC and BC, but I think I like BC better. The pool is great at BC, and the location to EPCOT can't be beat. Boardwalk was nice, but I didn't think it was any more convenient to the Boardwalk than the Beach Club was. Really, all three are very nice, and the rooms don't differ much. If you think the kids are going to want to swim that night, go with the Beach Club, if not, then do the Boardwalk.

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

DougiesMommy -- I know the answer to this!!! We love the Boardwalk very much. The rooms are terrific and the nightlife is fun. The pool with its "Keister Coaster" is terrific. However, the pool at Beach Club ("Stormalong Bay," which it shares with Yacht Club) is so amazing that it is an attraction in itself. And you are no longer allowed to swim in it if you are not a guest -- so if you are staying elsewhere, you are pretty much limited to wistfully watching all the pool fun from outside the fence! (And you WILL notice the Beach Club pool. It is impossible not to notice it!)
Remember that you can walk to all the Boardwalk action in about two minutes from this hotel! It is a beautiful, fun, SHORT walk! Plus, you are in the middle of the action at International Gateway, and with the boats to EC and MGM at your disposal!
Another very important bit of info: the Beach Club has sit-down food at Cape May Cafe, a well-priced buffet -- But the Boardwalk has no sit-down restaurant. Boardwalk guests have to go out on the boardwalk and get a pastry from the bakery, or make a PS at another restaurant!

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

Here's my vote for YACHT CLUB. We stayed there right after it was opened and we love the pool -- it's the neatest we've ever seen!

BTW: Here's how we ended up at YC: We were on our trip with friends (8 of us - four grownups and four kids) and had ressies at CBR. But when we went to check in at CBR, we were told there was a new resort that Disney was trying to get people to go to. We were told we could stay at YC for the same rate as CBR. My DW and her friend had to "check it out" before they agreed, but needless to say, they OK'd the plan!!

Ohhh fresh morning pastries, I had forgotten about that. Every time we stayed in one of the EPCOT resorts I would wake up early, grab my camera and walk around the area till I got to the Pastry shop at the Boardwalk. I would pick up pasties for the family, get a cappacino at that umbrella stand by the Boardwalk courtyard, sit by the lake and have my sweetroll and coffee, and then go wake up the troops.

I WANT TO GO BACK NOW.........

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

Glad you liked them, Harry... but I got tired of them after a couple of days... soon, I wanted eggs and bacon, butthey were nowhere to be found! I missed having a restaurant in my resort! (Plus, I blew my diet so badly with those pastries!!! Man, I must have eaten fifty croissants from that place!)

Re: Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk

Boardwalk is a lot of fun. I would come from Epcot and just check out what was going on. The Yacht and Beach club has a nicer pool, but both seem to have an excellent theme. Either resort is a good decision.

I was just thinking about that... it's really like you are picking between filet mignon and lobster... not possible to make a bad decision!
