Tips on Tipping?

What is the usual tip for luggage handler and Housekeeping at CBR? Should you mention at check in that it would be cool if housekeeping could make the cute towel creations for the kids?

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Tips on Tipping?

I can't say about luggage, but for housekeeping we tip 1.00 per person per day, and we do it daily as the maids do get days off. we have been thanked by the maids for doing it this way. our min tip is 3.00 per day if there is only two of us.

Re: Tips on Tipping?

Thanks. Sounds like you've done this a lot. I found templates with "Disney character graphics" to download and print envelopes to put tips in for houskeeping. I'll print one for each day and use your suggestion for the $1 pp/day.

Re: Tips on Tipping?

Disney Housekeepers are paid a non-tipped wage and typically do not/cannot accept gratuities. Housekeepers are supposed to turn all tips received into their manager which will be put into a department tip fund for future Cast Celebrations. For luggage services it is an industry standard of about $1 per bag and a little extra for heavier than average items.

So should we not tip mousekeepers? I will be honest and say that until my last trip, I had not thought of tipping them. I just figured they were paid a non tipped wage. If they don't directly get to keep the tip, I might think twice next time!

Tip them anyway! That's the right thing to do...regardless of policy.

I just can't imagine not tipping them...

Re: Tips on Tipping?

I agree. Go ahead and tip. I can't NOT tip someone when they do something for me - salon visits, manicures, cleaning, whatever.

And by Cast Celebrations, does that mean parties for CMs? If so... technically the tips kinda go back to them as a reward!

Re: Tips on Tipping?

Personally, if they do a good job, they get a good tip!! And, I tip mousekeeping because they clean the bathrooms and make the beds which means I don't have to!!

Re: Tips on Tipping?

$5 a day for Mousekeeping, family of two. $1 per bag for Bell Service and also unfortunately for Curbside/Valet (or really $2 for each bag). $2 for Valet car drop and pickup each time. I know, I posted a dollar in another thread, but that's the recommended, I do a little more these days. 15-20% for dining. But the hard one is which Concierrge and how much to give to each? That's the one I have a hard time with.
