Disney Wedding

Last October, we inquired about and booked a WDW "intimate" wedding package to renew our vows for our 10th anniversary in May '05.

After MONTHS of back and forth (mostly my wife prodding WDW for info, for followups that never occurred, etc.), we finally received a planning guide with a CD right before X-mas. Among other things, we were given a list of officiants, their websites, etc. and were given the task of researching them and picking one.

My wife and I finally asked ourselves the question, if this was a local company that we were dealing with that basically hadn't done anything but put our names next to a date, would we continue doing business with them?

We had high expectations that the wedding planning would meet the standards that we've grown to expect from Disney. Frankly, it didn't. We cancelled our reservation (with NO REGRETS).

So I guess I'm asking if anybody has had a similar experience? Is it us, or should wedding planners actually PLAN the wedding, not just reserve a date and mail a multiple choice test? Shouldn't they answer questions, shouldn't they follow up, shouldn't they do something other than cash a check?

Re: Disney Wedding

Wow - I'm surprised to hear that about Disney. I agree - I would have expected a lot more as well. I guess sometimes it's better to actually plan everything out yourself to ensure that you're getting what you really want. I think you did the right thing by cancelling - I would just do some of my own research and try to plan some romantic interludes throughout the trip. Maybe a nice dinner at Victoria & Albert's? Or a nice quiet walk on the beach some evening at the GF or WL? Just a few ideas. Good luck with the planning! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!
