OK, so reading Cinderbella's plans to surprise her dbf with a two-day trip to WDW got me thinking: How many of you DCers out there have done something similar?

I want details! - lol

I'll start: I surprised DD last trip in August 2003. It was just her and me that trip (We were in Fla. making visits to colleges. She had a couple offers to play soccer at colleges in central Fla.). We were going to stay "one or two nights," NEAR WDW (at the Best Western at DTD) since we weren't going to have time for much actual WDW fun that trip. After she made her last visit, we went from Tampa to Orlando and checked in at the Best Western. The next day, we goofed around DTD saw some sites, ate at O'Hana that night and then went back to the Best Western. The next morning, we checked out and supposedly started driving "home."

I said, "Let's drive around one last time before we leave." So, we were driving past the entrance to CBR and I told her, "Someday, I really want to stay there." Then I said, "Heck, let's do it TODAY." I turned the car into the CBR entrance and we stayed there a week! (I had planned it all way in advance and had all the ressies, park passes and PS's arranged.)

Needless to say, she was stunned. She was supposed to have gone to France with a school group earlier that summer, but the trip had been cancelled because the school felt travelling abroad at that time would not be safe for the kids. The WDW surprise was because of that cancellation and it was a sort of reward for her getting a full-ride soccer scholarship. (She ended up at a college near St. Louis. She said Tampa was too far from home for her.) We had never stayed at the CBR and DD had said on nearly every trip since she was a wee lass that she loved how it looks and really wanted to stay there.)

My DD and her husband went to Tampa Bay in Oct. and caught the Bears at Tampa Bay game. My DD said she would only go if her husband took her to Orlando and WDW for a few days, so he agreed. My DW and I said to ourselves no one in my family goes to WDW without us so we surprised them. We were sitting in the registration area at CSR when they walked in. They didn't see us at first but then my DD did a double take when she saw us! It was a great 4 days!!! Joe

When we leave tomorrow my DD best friend and family will be coming with us and we have kept that a secret for six months- My friends kids think they are bringing their father to the airport for another business trip, when they get there they will see us in the terminal for the same flight- They know that we are going and have been begging for a postcard and pictures - it will be real fun to see the reaction! My DD will be blown away that she gets to sit with her best friend on the plane!

Last year we surprised our DD and DS...we asked them the morning of our flight what they would like to do that day. One said go on a picnic, the other said go to the movies. We told them they could do better than that - if they could go ANYWHERE they wanted where would they go? Of course the answer was DISNEY WORLD!! So we said, "Sure! Let's go today!" They started jumping up and down screaming of course.

Then we said "Why don't you call Nana and Pop and see if they want to come with us!" They called, and Nana and Pop said "YES! We'd love to go!"

So we met them at the airport and who else did we find? My 2 SIL, BIL and niece!!

It was such a great surprise that we decided to do it again (minus the in-laws). We leave in 11 days and the kids still don't know!! We think we'll tell them the day before we leave...

Great surprises so far. I find myself trying to think of ways to surprise someone on every trip...

Last year we surprised our DDS. 5 and 2. The 2 year old didn't know any better but we told 5 yr old we were going in town to a museum (aka train station). When we got there she didn't know it was a train station. We met grandmom and grandpop there. She was surprised to see them there and then we asked her if you could go anywhere right now, where would you go? You know the answer. She started to cry I started to cry. Stop. Im crying now just thinking about it.
Anyway, this year we decided to do something different and plan a trip to Mexico. Then we got the phone call. My parents are going to DW with my brother and his family. I was so sad because we had already planned a trip to Mexico. Meanwhile my now 6 yr old keeps saying"why do we have to go to Mexico? They don't have any rides". So DH and I decided to cancel our trip to Mexico and go back to DW except 1 thing. DDS don't know about it. So again it will be a surprise.
I cant wait to see her face.

In September 2003 we surprised our kids! We told them we were going somewhere in Wyoming to help a friend of my DH's to build a patio cover on his house! Needless to say we played up how little the town was and that the hotel did not even have a pool! They were less than thrilled! Right before we left for the airport we brought them together and told them that our flight to Wyoming was cancelled so we thought we would fly to Orlando! At first they just looked confused then they got excited and my oldest was so excited she cried!
But that was not the end of our surprise! We were meeting good friends at WDW the next day too. We did stuff around POR the first day. Then when Disneymom's family arrived we acted like we needed to go to the lobby to get maps for the parks. Her kids were watching the movie in the lobby, my oldest DD was staring at her DD and came back and said look how much that looks like Katelyn, I just nodded Then my youngest DD could not find a place to sit so I said "Why don't you come over here and sit next to Katelyn!" Disneymom's DS looked over and his mouth just dropped open! It took a second but they all finally got it and started jumping around in excitement!!
It was the Greatest surprise ever!!! They still tell people about it a year and a half later! When we went this past September they told everyone about the last surprise trip to WDW!
We are surprising them again in December with 7or 8 nights at WDW and a 4 night cruise with Disneymom's family again! And we are surprising our DH's with a Hummer Limo from WDW to Port Canaveral! I cannot wait!

I wish I could surprise someone with a trip to WDW. That would be so much fun!!!
